Dr. What?

About Me

Born from the ashes of Pennsylvania jambands The Oddyssea and Captain Zig, Dr. What? is a part of a new revolution that is growing in the music industry. Formed in Reading, PA in early 2003, Dr. What?, who consists of Pete Specht [vocals & guitar], K-Fur [bass & vocals], and Jason Specht [drums], creates a unique sound that blend classic rock, funk, jam rock, folk, and reggae. Their distinctive feel and ambience derive from a large range of influences which include The Doors, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, The Meters, Jimi Hendrix, and Bob Marley. Their approach and style captures the most creative aspects of classic rock while adding something new to the art of music.
The conscious of Dr. What? is as unique as the music they craft. Dr. What?’s sense of humor and light-hearted vibe is as potent and smart as the serious political and social messages they address. Their live performance will showcase all of these talents with an emphasis on their musical and lyrical improvisation ability that will take listeners from raw powerful energy to the most beautiful and subtle sounds. The warm presence they create in any venue with mind and sound will keep any listener wanting more. This special vibe and energy is captured in their three albums; Stay A While...Stay Forever, Live at The Speakeasy, and So What?.
Dr. What? had been found playing in Philadelphia, Lehigh Valley, and New York City. At summer shows and festivals, Dr. What? played alongside David Nelson, legendary for his work with Jerry Garcia and the New Riders of the Purple Sage, Jim Donovan from Rusted Root, and national touring acts Grasshopper Pie, Big Leg Emma, Bohemian Sunrise, and The Ordinary Way, just to name a few.
