A quick little story about Sanrio... started by Shintaro Tsuji as the Yamanashi Silk Company in 1960. And became known as Sanrio in 1973. The word Sanrio comes from "san" which means "3" in Japanese, and "rÃo" which is Spanish for "river". Thus he named the company "Sanrio" to unify the three rivers of the world!
