Who is ToucyT?
NAMIBIA: Toucy U. Tjijombo was born in Namibia some years ago. In May 2002, Toucy registered her own company called Toucy Image Creation in Namibia, the first-ever entertainment and talent scouting agency and event management in Namibia’s history, with the sole aim of training, booking and giving international exposure to talented Namibian entertainers as well as plough back into the community affected by HIV & AIDS, Cancer, Poverty, Gender Equality, Violence against women & children. In May 2003, Toucy was featured in the Namibia Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) TV channel on a Youth Guidance Programme. She acted in films and sang from early childhood. She played an AIDS character in the movie called “And you call this Freedom†by best Namibian producer, Vickson Angula. Toucy was the first Namibian actress featured on the front-page of Namibia’s leading newspaper, The New Era, in April of 2004. Several articles on Toucy were published in The Namibian and the Informante newspapers. In April 2008, the diva will be performing at the World Peace Tour 4 Children in her home country Namibia, at the Independence Stadium in Windhoek.SOUTH AFRICA: In South Africa, Toucy built strong ties with TV personalities like Akin Omotoso, a very popular former actor in the famous daily soap “Generationsâ€, who she invited to Namibia to train aspiring Namibian actors in 2003. Furthermore, she established business ventures with Arthur Mofokate, the owner of South African leading recording company called 999 Music. In 2003, Toucy accompanied seven models from her agency to South Africa Modeling Talent Convention where she also won a judge award.
LONDON - UK: Toucy became the first Namibian TV Presenter for OBE TV channel in London in 2006. She was featured in different TV advertisements; voice-over; did fox pops at Buckingham Palace and co-wrote scripts for TV programs.
New York City - USA: As her articulation is undeniable, January '08 ToucyT is appointed as the Chairlady for the Communications and Public Relations Committee of the African Day Parade in NYC. Also, in February '08 she is again elected as the Chairlady for the Communication and Public Relations Committee for the Universal Peace Federation and as Namibia representative as a Goodwill Ambassador for peace. She was the first Namibian host for the first African Day Parade in Aug 2007 in Harlem and member of the organizing committee.Toucy had a chance in background roles in films like “Get Rich or Die Trying†with 50 Cent; “Freedomland†with Samuel L. Jackson; “Bedford Diariesâ€; and “Law and Order - Trial by Juryâ€. She acted principal roles with numerous independence film makers, and in “Playboy†- a short film which was aired on a NYC Manhattan Channel 67. She’s the first-ever Namibian artiste to perform and record in the USA. She is now fortunate to be working with one of America’s top engineer/producer Gregory Lawrence, with whom she recorded her first single called “Watch Outâ€, and “This Club is hot†at Ruff Riders studio in Yonkers, NYC. Apart from acting, the multi-talented Toucy also performed live at a music festival in Ithaca, NY in 2005.
Toucy became the first Namibian well-loved radio DJ on Southern Africa Radio SARFM based in Harlem. Additionally, she was the first-ever radio DJ on United Nations Africa Radio from Feb ’07 to Aug ’08. Toucy never forgets that education is the golden key to success; as a result, she is pursuing her university education vigorously as she is currently, a Media Technology major student at Bronx Community College, also where she is President of International Student Club fall of 2007 and a member of the Media Technology club.
One may be tempted to ask, “How does she cope?†The answer is simple: she has mad love for what she does and a hell of a survivor, dreamer, go-getter, hardworking; and she is determined to reach for the starz!
