Greg Leon. His name is synonymous with “Guitar Heroâ€. He is considered an influential and important musical personality in Hollywood’s Sunset Strip hard rock/heavy metal scene of the late 70s and through the 80s, playing an integral part in the successive fortunes of the acts he was associated with.
Primarily playing guitar and handling vocals, the notable acts that he fronted were “Suite 19â€, with future Motley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee, “The Greg Leon Invasionâ€, with bassist Joey Vera (later of Armored Saint, Fate’s Warning, and Anthrax) and drummer Carl Elizondo (later of Jag Wire). He took the place of Randy Rhoades in “Quiet Riotâ€, and as the pre-George Lynch guitarist in “Dokken†(Leon played on and co-wrote the demos which eventually got Dokken their record deal).
Once again playing under the name “The Greg Leon Invasionâ€, with the strength of his new recordings and new bad-ass rhythm section, you can find his powerhouse trio rocking the world. Banded together with bassist George Roelke (Shout, Fortune, Brand New Day) and drummer John Covington (Big Cock), Leon will be releasing his fourth CD this spring. Greg plans on “Invading†the U.S. and Europe in 2007.
