As I was walking down the street last week, I walked past a jewelery store that was in the most exquisite area. In the front window were many rings, necklaces, and jewelry that sparkled and shine. They were definitely there to catch the eye and draw the shopper into the store. I walked into the store and past the front window and was greeted by the proprietor. "May I help you?" She questioned. "I am looking for something special." I replied. "Have you noticed the brilliant gems in the front window." She quizzed. "Yes but not quite what I had in mind." was my response. What I was looking for was not something that was put in a window to draw attention and just look pretty. I had in my heart something very unique and crafted by God from a lump of coal to be a gorgeous and wonderful reflection of HIS image. I wanted to look around. There were so many Jewels, of different colors and hues and settings. Almost to many to count. Each one had it's own beauty, but still not quite what I was looking for. After about an hour of looking, I was ready to leave the store and as I turned to go, the owner said to me, "I think I have what you are looking for. In fact this piece is mine. I found the diamond on my travels through difficult times and severe weather. I took that diamond of fiery brilliance to craft it into a beautiful work of art, knowing that one day that the perfect person for this diamond would come through the doors of my shop." She turned to go and went into the back room to bring out a plain jewelers box simply tied in ribbon. I thought to myself, what could possibly be in that simple box. What I was about to see I had not in all my dreams envisioned. As she opened the box the brilliance of the diamond and it's cut dazzled with light. I was blinded by its luster. The setting was more than simple, it was breathtaking. I gasped as I saw it craftsmanship and it's beauty. Word cannot express, the wonder of this magnificent work of art. As I gazed at it lines and it design, I in that moment knew that God indeed does exist and understand our frame and our needs. In disappointment, I again turned to go. The shop owner shouted out to me as I walked toward the door,"STOP, DON'T GO!" My anguished reply was simply, "I could not possible afford such an exquisite piece of beauty." As I think about that moment, I realize that fate and destiny were at hand. Her gentle response echoes in my mind still,"But this particular diamond is not for sale, it is worth more than money, I am giving it to you freely and without charge. I can see that you will care for it and treasure it as God intend a lover of gems to do. I have had this diamond for many years and now I know that I have found the man that will cherish the beauty that God has place in this gem. Suddenly tears were streaming down her face. As she place the shop closed sign on her door, locked the door, and place her hand into mine we walk down the street arm in arm. The beautiful piece of art was placed on her left ring finger. It was then that I knew the real gem was the woman who had created the image she wore on her finger. As we walked together, people would stop and watch and beam in the glow of the two walking as one, the ring and it's brilliance and the presence of a God who indeed does demonstrate HIS love for HIS BRIDE! As we walked I asked her for her name. This was no simple gem but a priceless work of art.
