About Me

First and foremost JR thanks God for the gift of life and the amazing gift of song He has bestowed upon her. Music is to be savored in the soul and she feels her life would be lacking if she couldn't share with others what God has given!A small town girl from South Bend, Indiana, Jessica "JR" Ottow now calls Nashville, TN her home. Getting her start in music during elementary school, she has performed for the University of Notre Dame as well as for the Mayor of South Bend. She has also won several vocal competitions and a music scholarship to SouthWestern Michigan College. Music education wasn't exactly the thing for her, so after a four year hiatus, she enrolled at Indiana University and received her Bachelor's in Communication / Public Relations. During her college years, JR spent most of her time with two very popular local bands, Straightaway (from Plymouth, IN) and Vyagra Falls (from South Bend/Granger, IN). These two bands differed in such styles from rock and golden oldies to pop, alternative, and soul. Still a regular to get up on stage when she heads back home to visit, these two bands brought JR's first true stage experiences to their peak. After graduating from college in 2005, JR went on to move down to Nashville. Upon arriving, JR took to the stage in a much bigger market with a much bigger scale of talent. Her first taste at winning was with a vocal competition at the 2005 Tennessee State Fair Vocal, beating out nearly 35 contestants in their finals. Following that, she has won many big vocal competitions in the area and continues to prove her vocal prowess whenever she can light up a stage. She has worked with Beverly Ross (songwriter for Elvis Presley and most famous for her song "Lollipop") and has performed her songs at the Blue Bar hosted by Amanda Williams. Her next adventure was appearing on CMT's Karaoke Dokey performing as Faith Hill and took second place in late February 2007. This led to her addition as a talent for AMAX Modeling and Talent Agency and is very proud to be apart of such a prestigious agency which has boasted such talent in the past as Reese Witherspoon. JR has also performed with local churches including, Bellevue Community Church. She lended her talent to a Broadway Revival show to benefit HOPE WORLDWIDE at the Stardust Theater where she had a few starring roles in. She has worked with Dan O'Brien in his studio producing and recording more music and singing at local venues as a duo. Rehearsing and singing backup for the band, "All Worked Up" JR has traveled to open up for JoDee Messina on a USO Tour in California. JR has become part of the cast of the show formaly known as, "Larger Than Life" and renamed "Theatrix" a magic music show that is unlike anything you have ever seen and is currently setting up dates to tour regionally with the show. As of present, JR Ottow is currently working with a producer out of Los Angeles with the intention to record original music and get a record deal. With writers who have produced hits for Sugarland, she is excited to be given this wonderful opportunity. She is excited about her new journey ahead of her! Feel free to drop her a line if you have any songs you would like to have recorded.
