The south may not be ready for this one…The industry may not even be ready for this one…As a matter of fact, all the self-proclaimed kings may have to put up a mean fight before giving up their crowns, sharing a royal court or being dethroned.
Whatever the case may be, Ki-2’s goals are clear >br>- He wants his share of the crown and has no intentions of taking no for an answer.
When life takes on the true meaning of survival of the fittest, and “by any means necessary†becomes a way of life for you, lyrics are no longer written rhetorically; they become bone fide testimony. This is true for the College Park native Ki-2 whose rhymes rival the greatest and his “LISTEN†attitude commands the attention of those who are any where within ear shot.
Proud of his country deliveries, this Hip Hop artist clearly respects those from coast to coast who share the craft. When asked when he knew this was his career path, Ki-2 references the death of Tupac whom he believes displayed to the world all sides: the good, the bad, and the ugly. Realizing that his life has mirrored all of that and then some, Ki-2 was inspired to put pen to paper and its’ been his resume ever since. Now, many rappers have come after Tupac, but none have measured up to the emotionally charged rhapsodies of his caliber. Convinced he would never hear music made with the same significance and intellectual passion; Ki-2 is taking on the task to uproot that fervor, a quest making him hungry to be the next legend who will give birth to the ‘new south’. Shaking things up, Ki-2 rhymes with implausible self conviction forces you to feel the depth of every word he drops. Ki-2 shares with listeners his ghetto philosophies, straight up; no chaser or watered down truths; giving it on demand. These are real life lessons we learn as we transition into adulthood and the dilemmas we all experience just trying to make it through each day.
Few rappers in the game can devour a track that establishes a lyrical presence like Ki-2. His sound is known to make new fans feel like old ones, as he draws them in with his edgy, country twanged poetic flow. His undeniable talent has led the way for him to open up shows for Oscar winning artists Three- 6 Mafia, and platinum breaking artists like Killa Mike, and Lloyd showing off his personal bravado to thousands: abrasive, aggressive, retrospective, nurturing, true. But for Ki-2 winning the toughest crowd - hard to impress penitentiary fellows with overwhelming applause signaled final confirmation that he is beyond a performer and can win the minds and hearts of anyone.
Ki-2 also takes Hip-Hop to heart with children at the top of his list. He gives life to his music and to the causes that he believes in because his mother taught him, whooped him, scolded him, disciplined him and above all loved him. So not only does he represent the street, in his spare time, he gives back to the streets by contributing his time and money towards charitable and civic organizations benefiting children. Ki-2 can’t stand to see children suffer or without unconditional love and understands he has to take that position of being a role model.
For Ki-2, rap is not a hustle or game and has proclaimed his ultimate purpose is to make timeless music and entertain while still educating. So rippin’ verses straight from his soul, Ki-2’s grind stays hard, as he continues to look forward to his ever evolving journey.
Simply put, rhyming on will always be Ki-2’s medium to share his messages, his culture as he knows it. Ki-2 may just be the ‘key’ to a change everyone’s notion of this here rap game.
