Morrigan a été crée en 1994. Avatar de l'éphémère groupe Horizon, Merlin et Frantz en étaient déjà membres. Cette formation avait d'ailleurs déjà enregistré en 1992 une K7 audio 5 titres. Ceux-ci plus quelques morceaux furent tardivement regroupés sur un bootleg artisanal fort heureusement introuvable nommé Archives.
En 1995, Merlin rencontre Fish (premier chanteur de Marillion) et devient son ami. En 1999, il est invité par le poisson à venir enregistrer des vocaux sur le morceau marathon "Plague of Ghosts" sur l'album "Raingods with Zippos". Cette amitié ne s'est pas démentie depuis.

En 1999, Morrigan sort un premier album de sept titres "Chroniques d'Ici-Bas" avec Francis Reix aux guitares et Frank Ménard à la batterie. Il contient également des interventions d'Antoine Feytis à l'alto sur "Perseverare Diabolicum", sur "Terronirisme" un choeur lyrique superbement arrangé par Christophe Rocher, et principalement interprété par Gilles Safaru, tous deux membres du groupe Indigo, et des parties percussions interprétées sur "Perseverare" également par Alain Miraucourt qui a également fait la production de l'album. L'accueil des critiques fut très positif. Pour exemple, la critique parue dans le "Hard Rock Magazine" de janvier-février 2000.
En 2000, également, Carlos Terrones devient le nouveau batteur du groupe.
En août 2002, le groupe connaît sa première reconnaissance nationale en étant programmé au festival Crescendo à St Palais sur Mer.
L'année suivante, nouveaux mouvements de fond dans le groupe, qui aboutissent à un changement de guitariste. Thierry Rouzier devient alors le plus jeune membre de la formation par l'ancienneté et par l'âge également.
Dès lors, Morrigan s'attelle à un projet quelque peu relégué en arrière plan depuis ces dernières années : la conception et la réalisation d'un nouvel album. Et en avril 2005, enfin, sort "Respirer" dans un style sensiblement différent, avec de multiples invités dont John Wesley, ancien guitariste de Fish et acolyte scénique régulier de Porcupine Tree. Contrairement à "Chroniques d'Ici-Bas", autoproduit et autodistribué par le groupe, ce nouveau projet a reçu dès l'origine le soutien d'un label régional, RB Production, que le groupe tient à remercier pour sa confiance.
Enfin, à l'hiver 2005, Thierry décide de voler de ses propres ailes et est alors remplacé par Vincent Cousin, un guitariste rock bien connu de la scène régionale.

Morrigan was created in 1994. Sequel of the short-lived band called “Horizon”, in which Merlin and Frantz Doré already played. This previous band recorded a tape composed of five tracks in 1992. These songs plus several others have been gathered tardily on a furtunately not to be found bootleg called “Archives”.
In 1995, Merlin met Fish (Marillion’s previous singer) et became his friend. In 1999, he was invited by the great man to come and record backing vocals on the track "Plague of Ghosts" on the album "Raingods with Zippos". This friendship still goes on.
In 1996, Philippe Lechable replaced Marc Devidal at the keyboards.
In 1999, Morrigan released a first seven tracks album "Chroniques d'Ici-Bas" with Francis Reix at the guitars and Frank Ménard at the drums. Antoine Feytis was invited to play alto on "Perseverare Diabolicum", the band was offered a gorgeous lyric choir on "Terronirisme" that was arranged by Christophe Rocher, and mainly interpretated by Gilles Safaru, both members of “Indigo”, and we had Alain Miraucourt playing percussions on "Perseverare", Alain Miraucourt who also made the production of the album. The critics in the press and on the web were very positive.
In 2000, Carlos Terrones became the new drummer of the band.
In august 2002, the band knew its first national recognition when prgrammed at the Crescendo festival at St Palais sur Mer.
The following year, the band had to confront some big problems, and that led to a change of guitarist. Thierry Rouzier became then the youngest member of the band. From this moment on, Morrigan started a new project that have been forgotten for several years : the making of a new album. And then in april 2005, at least, "Respirer" was released in a strikingly different style, with multiple guests, for instance John Wesley, who played with Fish and often is on stage with Porcupine Tree. And if "Chroniques d'Ici-Bas" was self-produced by the band, this new opus have been promoted from the very beginning by a local label, RB Production.
At least, in the winter 2005, Thierry decided to part and was replaced by Vincent Cousin.
