About Me

I've never been any good whatsoever in writing about myself. Musicians, when famous enough can employ hordes of people to lie through their teeth in band bios, having no such luxury meself, here's the best that I can manage:

I was born in Dumfries, SW Scotland a few...tho not too many moons ago. I didn't come from a musical family but rather bumped into a few while strolling through life. Before I knew it, I was surrounded by folk who played and wrote their own songs..not to be outdone, I decided to do the same.I've always had a thing about guitars, even though I'm trying to learn the damn thing at the moment. Every party I would go to, some 'git' would bring a lump of wood with strings and suddenly there would be a dozen budding Knopflers in the room. It was because of this that I decided I'd play the damn piano instead..although now I realise that it's not quite as portable.I started playing in pubs when I was around 15 to the rowdy crowds of Galloway, then to Aberdeen, London & Leeds. Then, after showing no signs of liking folk music whatsoever, i joined a folk band - "Runt O' the Litter" which led to gigs over Europe and eventually to the joining of other bands such as "The Badgers" , "Taxi for MacLean" , "Rattus Rattus" to name but a few. I continue to write my own material which can be fairly accurately described as balladesque, although I write in a quite a few styles.I've had radio play and continue to gig both here and abroad, waiting for whatever's meant to happen next.I've hit MySpace a bit late, but here I am . . . . ..

Influences: Oooo....anything from Tom Waits to Kate Rusby, if you can fill in the blanks between them, then you're a better man than I!

Sounds Like: That would be for other folk to decide. I rather think I sound like myself & have done for quite a while.

another track added....

That's another track added (Lazy Days). It's quite a bitter song...so I apologise if you thought it would be a nice song about lazy summer afternoons! It's also quite an old track for me, I intend to ...

New songs

Just added two new songs, 'Counting Falling Rain' and 'Soldiers Story'. These aren't really 'new' songs as I wrote them a wee while ago now and while getting a mental block over new songs I've started...

A wee story..

Just a short...very short story that I wrote this morning while looking for inspiration for a song. Needless to say it didn't help. I Told Paris It Would End In Trouble I told Paris it would end ...
