About Me

Born in Denmark to a Danish mother and Liberian father, Gbatokai Dakinah is a bass player who grew up in New York City. With a career spanning 25 years, he has played worldwide and studied in various locales, such as Cameroon. His stylistic abilities and preferences vary. Some of the notable projects he has been a part of include: - The Bell Cafe (dub/jazz) - Squelch (fusion/jungle) - Aqui (sci-fi/operatic/punk/metal) - Dragons of Zynth (afro-tech) - The Ambassadors of Mandingo (traditional african) - Baye Kouyate et Les Tougarake (traditional african).In addition, Gbatokai has played live with Fred Wesley (James Brown), Brian McNight, and the Screaming Headless Torsos. Studio work has included artists such as The Orb, Massive Attack, Keziah Jones, DJ Mugs (Cypress Hill), David Fiuczynski, and Lian Amber.Gbatokai has also been involved with the film industry, in a lead role in the 1999 Cannes Palme D'Or winner, Danish Dogme film, "Festen" ("The Celebration").I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
