I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Ok, so like clockwork, after about *3* years here on MySpace, I'm getting around to my yearly revision of my profile. I got on here initially because of my daughter (her profile is Righteous Babe on my friends list, check her out!) and have met some wonderful people through myspace. I am busy in my church (mostly singing/music/worship stuff, as I am a singer/songwriter/guitarist.) Whatever music I have playing here is very reflective of where I am spiritually and emotionally. If you want to know about me, listen to the music, it'll say far more than these words. I am a professional costumer, and belong to a semi-professional (and semi-retired) a capella early music vocal ensemble named "Guido's Hand". My husband Chris and I are still hopelessly addicted to an on line game called City of Heroes, through which we've made some wonderful friends. We even get together in person at times...isn't the internet awesome :) Socially, my music crowd and gaming crowd usually merge, and I'm torn between getting up dancing and/or jamming with the musicians, or talking CoH with the gamers!Oh, I embarked upon a business venture this year by establishing Singing Stones Jewelry. I make jewelry from beautiful stones of all kinds, with some metals, pearls and shells, but all natural materials. I chose the name Singing Stones because all of nature "sings" of the glory of it's Creator, and even if all the people were silenced, the rocks and stones themselves would cry out and sing of His Glory. That there can be such beauty just in the rocks alone, it is astounding how much more beauty He has bestowed on the created ones He calls His Beloved! So this company is to celebrate and cherish all His creation by creating wearable adornment from that creation.A couple of my favorite quotations, adages I try to live by: "The person who gains the most from forgiveness is the person who does the forgiving." and "Sometimes graciousness is shown by what you *don't* say, even if what you *could* say would be true." - RT Kendall. Read his book "Total Forgiveness"! Jesus is our ultimate example of forgiveness...He's forgiven us, how then can we continue in unforgiveness toward ANYONE else?I love my God, my husband, my kids, my family, my friends, and my kitties. For that matter, I am striving toward loving all people as God loves them, and while that's a tall order, with His love living in me, I can do it! :) My favorite flowers are irises, my favorite color is purple. And I'd rather be singing than almost anything else. Even CoH :D

Music:

I have very eclectic tastes when it comes to music. Genres: everything from Jazz, Folk, Christian/spiritual, Reggae, Classic rock, Classical, Celtic, Early Music, World Music, and lots of stuff that defies labels :) Some of my all-time FAVS: Superchick (latest fav), James Taylor, Sting, Sade, Diana Krall, Natalie Cole, Stan Getz, Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, Ollabelle, Dezarie, Matisyahu, Queen Latifah, Seal, Indigo Girls, Ani DiFranco, Capercaille, Tait, Todd Agnew, Jeremy Camp, Casting Crowns, Christafari, Third Day, Mercy Me, Point of Grace, Salvador, John Mayer, Five for Fighting, Jason Mraz, Cat Stevens, Imogen Heap, Cold Play, Goo Goo Dolls, Evanescence, Lacuna Coil, Sarah Brightman, Aria, Anonymous Four, Chanticleer, then don't even get me started on my fav locals like BECAUSE, Nathan Brooks, Patrick Lentz, Mr Zero Knew, Leo Project, No Cause No Cure...list could go on and on...I told ya...bizarrely eclectic...OMG, I almost forgot my own group: GUIDO'S HAND!

Movies:

Too many to name! I mostly like action/adventures and comedies best because I like movies for the escapism they afford me, but there are many historicals and romantic dramas on my long list too! To name a few of my all-time favs: Chronicles of Narnia, Dangerous Beauty, Oh Brother Where Art Thou (the most cleverly written comedy since Shakespeare), 13th Warrior, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Shakespeare in Love, Much Ado About Nothing, Seabisquit (I love an under-dog-makes-good story) Braveheart, LadyHawk, all the silly super-hero movies like X-men, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and Batman ('cause I love superheroes, and am pretty silly when you come right down to it, lol)...consider this list REALLY truncated as well :)

Television:

HEROES, HGTV, National Geographic channel, Discovery channel, Learning channel, History channel, and FoodTV. That being said, I really don't log much tube time, just that when I do take a break to watch, those are what I choose between. And I rarely just sit and watch...I'm usually doing something else at the same time, like sewing or making jewelry!

Books:

Ok, we have to break this up into genres...the classics, music, costuming research, psych/medical, college texts (I'm such a nerd I kept most of them! LOL) sci-fi/fantasy, spiritual stuff, even the occasional historical romance! I love everything I have read by CS Lewis. What a brilliant mind. There's this great book called Total Forgiveness by RT Kendall...EVERYONE should read this book and live a lifestyle of forgiveness...this world would be a MUCH better place if we did! And of course the most important one: the Bible!

Heroes:

Greatest super hero ever: Jesus! Also my dad, my mom, sister, husband and kids...all for adversities they've fought to overcome and still are; my friend Gail who fought cancer with humor, dignity and grace...and won the fight, before it extinguished her flame in this plane of existance; Mother Teresa; Dr Martin Luther King Jr; Maya Angelou, Billy Graham; all for their strength, generosity, and for their steadfastness and bravery through adversity of one type or another...this list not yet complete.
