About Me
I have thus far published two chapbooks of original poetry ("A Pagaent of Reflections", "A Fragile Sanctuary"), and currently have a third book in the works, to be titled "A Moment For Dreaming". I perform regularly, and have shared my poems in such varied venues as coffeehouses, churches, book stores, schools, public libraries, hospitals, and peace rallies. I also plan to eventually record a CD of my poetry, mixing old favorites and new, unpublished pieces. I am a co-founding member, along with Michelle Gussow, of the INDY ARTISTS' PEACE PROJECT, a non-profit group which organizes peace/anti war-themed events which incorporate many diverse aspects of the creative arts (music, poetry, storytelling, drama, dance, etc.) I was also a co-founder, along with Ricardo Parra, of THE POETRY ALLIANCE OF INDY, a non-profit group which sponsered poetry readings, open mics, and booksignings all around Indianapolis. Between April 2001 and May 2008 I regularly hosted the Alliance's popular monthy open mic reading, "POETRY IN THE CAFE" at Barnes and Noble Books in Carmel. For fun, I enjoy writing book, music, and movie reviews for AMAZON.COM and seem to attract a lot of feedback e-mails from both those who agree and disagree with my reviews! I am a member of FIRST MENNONITE CHURCH OF INDIANAPOLIS where I work on various social issues as part of the Church's Peace & Justice Committee. Although I am a Christian (or "follower of Jesus", as I prefer), I am very much opposed to growing influence of the so-called 'Religious Right', and the whole right wing/hard-line/compassion-free direction that much of Evangelical Christinaity seems to be be taking these days. As for politics, I currently consider myself to be "politically disinfranchized", as I don't subcribe completely to any one political party (in other words...they're all a bit corrupt!!!)...On a less serious note, I am also a hopeless hot tea junkie, and can't seem to start any day without a cup or two - preferably Twining's Earl Grey with approximately one ton of sugar! : )
