SIERRA FIN
It was many years ago, when your grandfather was just a child, and cars still drove on the ground, that on an evening much like tonight, a crisp winter wind blew through Sydney. Many miles away John Howard sat in his prime ministerial office on the phone consoling George Bush, who sat many more miles away in the Oval office upset to learn that that they were not real Iraqi’s he was shooting on his brand new Playstation 3 (which was the latest offering from Sony before they took over the world).
It was the year 2007 and a group of strangers converged on a tiny club in Newtown and sought shelter from the icy gale that swept King Street. They were met by a pair of inflated egos, the type you could imagine would produce this sort of swill as a biography. These two scruffy bohemians took to the stage with their array of guitars, pianos and drums, and proceeded to exhibit their curious strains of music to the general intrigue and delight of the onlookers who were not quite sure what to expect, this was after all, the very first gig for Sierra Fin.
It has been said, and by a much more reliable source than I, that Sierra Fin were unsatisfied with the ratio of numbers of hands in the band to numbers of instruments for the commitment (thankfully they rhyme better in their songs). And so began a recruitment of friends and strangers to inflate their band so that it was proportionate to their egos. In 2008 they rounded out the four-piece intricate-rock outfit we all know and love today, and they began honing their lush sonic mixture of harmony and cacophony.
The stage was set for Sierra Fin as the year clicked over to 2009, they released their debut EP "Shake Stare Sleep" to wide critical acclaim and set off on their first east coast tour.
Boy, if I could only go back in time to April/May 2009
