WELCOME TO A PLAY HOUSE FOR LEARNING.
As a Professional Childcare Provider, the goal is to provide your child with a clean, safe, comfortable environment where they can play and learn with guidance and loving care while you are at work or attending school. My door is always open to you, whether it is to visit with your child during the day or meet for a conference to discuss how your child is doing your comments and concerns are always welcome, and I am always here to listen to you.
GETTING READY FOR YOUR CHILD'S FIRST DAY: I suggest you consider visiting the childcare for a brief period before your child’s first day.
PARENTAL ACCESS:
The parent, guardian, or full-time custodian of a child enrolled in A Play House For Learning has unlimited access to the childcare during its operating hours for the purposes of contacting the child or evaluating the childcare and the care provided.
A PLAY HOUSE FOR LEARNING CHILDCARE WILL CLOSE TO OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING HOLIDAYS:
• New Year’s Day
• Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
• Memorial Day
• Independence Day (4th of July)
• Labor Day
• Thanksgiving Day

• I will be taking One-week vacation per year. An alternate will be providing care. At least one months notice will be given.
• All other absences are covered.
BUSINESS HOURS:
A Play House For Learning provides childcare from Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. To 6:00 p.m. To ensure the safety of your child, only you or your designate(s) may pick up your child. ..
GENERAL NUTRITION:
(a) Meals and snacks served shall comply with the Meal Patterns for Children in Child Care standards, which are based on the recommended nutrient intake judged by the National Research Council to be adequate for maintaining good nutrition. The types of food, number, and size of servings shall be appropriate for the ages and developmental levels of the children in care.
(b) Menus for nutritious meals and snacks shall be planned at least one week in advance. At least one dated copy of the current week’s menu shall be posted where parents can see it easily. Any substitution will be of comparable food value and will be recorded on the menu.
(c) Drinking water is freely available to children of all ages and offered at frequent intervals.
REST TIME:
Each pre-school child will be provided with a nap/rest time daily. We encourage your child to rest during that period. Blankets may be brought from home, but must be labeled and laundered weekly. Cot sheets and crib sheets will be provided by the childcare.
DISCIPLINE/CONDUCT STATEMENT:
While in care, only positive encouragement is enforced. Children will not be subject to spanking, hitting, kicking, restraint, or to verbal, emotional, or physical punishment. The most effective ways of enforcing positive behaviors are Praise, Respect, Re-Direction, and Positive Re-Enforcement. Strategies are used to engage children in their own problem solving.
OUTDOOR PLAY:
Children need fresh air and exercise daily. Children will be allowed to play outdoors on the playground each day, weather permitting. Children will only be kept in during the rain or extreme heat or cold. Please dress your child appropriately for the weather and provide appropriate outdoor apparel (i.e. coats or jackets). Gates to the fenced outdoor play area shall remain securely closed while children occupy the area.
CELEBRATIONS:
I encourage you to celebrate birthdays and holidays with your child. I am happy to suggest healthy snacks such as crackers, fruit, party mix, etc. instead of sweets or sugary snacks. If you would like to celebrate an occasion with your child’s class, please discuss the times and events with me.
SMOKE FREE POLICY:
A Play House For Learning is a smoke-free facility. Smoking is not permitted in the home or on the childcare grounds.
BAN ON WEAPONS:
Weapons of any kind are not permitted on the grounds or in vehicles. As a safety precaution, we also request that your child not bring any toy, which resembles a weapon to the childcare. . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . .

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

COMMUNICATION:
Communication is very important to the caregiver. When a new family is accepted into the childcare, I like to be sure that I can share openly any concerns or questions that may arise. We can work as a team raising your child. If we can work together then your child can feel secure in knowing they have two families who love them very much. It is important that there is a similar childcare philosophy between us. I welcome questions, feedback, or discussions of any kind that affect a positive outcome for the child. Sensitive issues will be discussed outside of regular hours by letter, phone, or a scheduled meeting.
You may call A Play House For Learning (704) 367-7841 between 7:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Parents of infants will receive a daily note. Some typical things that you may find on this note would be feedings/meals, diaper changes, naps/quiet time, and things to remember or to bring.
All parents should check on the front wall for important information, special announcements, etc.
