I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Lyricist, vocalist, and keyboardist, living in the Sierra Foothills Logtown "suburb" of El Dorado, with the love of My Life, fellow musician, Bill F. I am a SF Bay Area Native (Cupertino, San Carlos, Half Moon Bay,later spending a few years in Ironwood, Michigan, Portland, Oregon, and lots of years in (stuck in) Lodi, California. Both parents were in the Roller Derby in the 60's, we all skated the bank track at George's training club in Oakland, with Roller Derby stars Cliff Avery, Charlie O'Connell, Janet Earp, Joan Weston, etc.  Bill: NY and NJ native, transplant to Marin County mid sixties, graduate Chico State, and an engineering geologist.  We have a modest home atop a ridge, with a deck view of the Crystal Range, and a barnyard full of critters, to include two Suffolk Ewes (Briggs and Stratton), a 13 year old Alpine goat Bocannon, a Barbados sheep, and Llama extrodinaire Marco Polo. Our Great Pyrenees, Sunny, completes the critter list.Bill and I have an in-home studio, and have been working to produce our first solo CD. We call ourselves "Whisper Crew" (named for our 26 foot Chrysler sailboat Whisper). We write our own jazz-influenced rock. Recently, our song "Blind Eye" was featured on a Sacramento talk radio station. I have my musical roots, in school choirs and several marching bands, in teen garage bands in the 70's, in the 90's working with several musicians from Locke, CA (reggae band IndicaFusion), and in the Central Valley. Mitchell Holman, the bassist for It's a Beautiful Day was instrumental in arranging radio play for IndicaFusion. After Indicafusion, I joined Central Valley musicians Stan McFadden and Steve Johnson, in several incarnations, performed at the annual Memorial Day Mt Aukum festival for several years, and lots of bars in the Lodi/Central Valley area. Bill was in several bands in Marin, and has worked with a variety of musicians over the years.  After relocating to the foothills, we began writing and recording our originals. My other hobbies are: Digital photography (band live and studio pics), and nature photography. I also dabble in stained glass projects and tending my ever expanding Iris gardens.  Bill and I both have weekday jobs we need to break free of come Friday, and like having our place to get away to, and have friends and family come up and visit, play music. We live close enough to Placerville to take in some great music (Cozmic Cafe). My life has been enriched by my wonderful friend,  Native American artist, B.J. Quintana, whose traditional and nontraditional sculpture and graphic arts are breathtaking (especially the Pop Tarts!). If I ever win the lotto, she will have the best Beach House ever, in our beloved Mendocino. No one deserves it more, not even me. I met BJ while living on the Sacramento River in the 1990's, and spent many nights singing to Patti Smith's "Horses" loud enough they could hear us at "Al the Wops". No disrespect, they really do call the bar and restaurant that. If you haven't been to Locke, CA, you are missing a jewel of a town. Being a guest of Ning Hou's private art studio, and seeing his imagination painted on the most amazing mediums is an experience I will always treasure, along with all my music friends who lived there in the 90's. BJ and I had a blast at the Fillmore, seeing Patti Smith last year, great show, you should see her in concert next time around.  Favorite bumper stickers seen in Northern CA:Poor Republicans Confuse Me;Is it 2008 yet?Re-elect Gore President 2008;Who would Jesus Bomb?My dog is smarter than our president ( that's saying a lot);President Bush is listening, use big words

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

We would welcome any serious local musicians around Placerville, interested in working on original projects, to contact us. Bill plays rhythm guitar. Although I play keyboards, we would welcome an expert keyboardist, need a great bass player, and toned down, tasty percussion. A rock sax player would be cool, and jazzy lead guitar.Neil Young (have a couple originals I would like to work with him on, one can dream) And of course, David Crosby,  Graham Nash, and Stephen Stills, who I learned to harmonize with, ala vinyl. Thanks for the best harmonies ever. My aha moment was at the San Jose gig, when Guinnivere was played. Barack Obama, Al Gore. Hillary Clinton. On a wierd note, it would be nice to meet my Dad, as he would have turned out. He died way too soon, at the age of 30, when I was just 9. You get all these myths going on in your head, through the years. Anyone who would dance with you on his shoes, and so many other fun things would have surely been a great Dad.
