Cool Cats è una band di “Blue-new-grass and Country”, formata da Tommaso Angelini : violino, Alessandro Baldi: basso e voce, Tiziano Giagnoni: chitarre, banjo e voce, Alessandro Ramacciotti: mandolino e voce, Enrico Resta: batteria e Rubboard. La scelta del repertorio, oltre alla grande esperienza dei musicisti, si sta rivelando azzeccata per ogni tipo di pubblico. Dal 2006 portano in giro per l’Italia, e non solo, la loro musica piena di allegria e divertimento. Dopo l’esperienza americana, dove hanno suonato al "Layla's Bluegrass Inn"di Nashville insieme ai Jypsi e all’”Artisan Guitars” di Franklin, la tendenza della scelta dei brani è sempre più Bluegrass e Roots (Old Time). Brani come "Uncle Pen", "Roll in my sweet baby's arms", per esempio, si alternano a “Hop High Lulu Gal” o “Cherokee Maggie”. In scaletta anche brani di Country, come “Theme from Rowhide” o spirituals come "Pick a bale of cotton" o "I bowed my head and cry", dove le voci dei Cool Cats trovano il loro perfetto amalgama. Il caratteristico “groove” ritmico, sostenuto da basso e batteria, ben si sposa con le chitarre di Tiziano,il mandolino di Alessandro o il favoloso “fiddle” di Tommy. Quello che traspare dagli spettacoli della band, oltre la musica ovviamente, è il grande divertimento. Niente da dimostrare, niente da dover essere giudicato…..solo un gioioso ascolto di una gioiosa musica, che a volte emoziona, a volte esalta, a volte fa ballare….ma che in ogni caso fa divertire. E’ raro trovare un’empatia cosi piacevole come quella che emana dalle oltre due ore dello show dei Cool Cats.------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------- The Cool Cats is a country-blues-bluegrass band comprising: Alessandro Baldi: bass and voice, Tiziano Giagnoni: guitars and voice, Alessandro Ramacciotti: mandolin and voice, Enrico Resta: drums, Rubboard, Tommaso "Tommy" Angelini: fiddle. The kind of music played by the Cool Cats, combined with the band members’ vast experience, has made them a hit with all kinds of audiences. On 13 August 2007, the band played at the Poggio Murella Blues Festival, along with many nationally and internationally acclaimed artists, to an immensely responsive and enthusiastic audience. The Cool Cats proved to be the revelation of the festival – a great achievement for the band. In this context, where the big names in the world of Blues took their turn on the stage, the Cool Cats’ simplicity and positive spirit captured the attention of the very diverse audience, both in terms of musical taste and age. At the end of 2007, the Cool Cats headed off to Nashville (TN) USA to play at “Artisan Guitars” in Franklin. Their performance, much to their surprise, was met with rousing applause and appreciation by an audience that certainly knows what it’s looking for in this kind of music. The Band then played two days in a row at “Layla’s Bluegrass Inn”, together with the Jypsi, an incredible band just taking off in the USA with a debut album that’s already at the top of the US country music charts. The Cool Cats’ repertoire has greatly benefited from their American experience: new songs like “Uncle Pen”, “Rita Mae” and “Roll in My Sweet Baby’s Arms”, join their more classic and pure country music like "Take Me Home Country Road" or "the Theme From Rawhide" as well as spirituals such as "Pick a Bale of Cotton" and "I Bowed my Head and Cry", where the band members’ voices harmonize perfectly. The rhythmic “groove” set by the bass and drums blends fabulously with Tiziano’s guitar playing, Alessandro’s mandolin and overall the fiddle of Tommy. In March 2008 the Cool Cats played to packed audiences on two evenings at the annual “Irish Festival” held in Florence’s prestigious SASCHall. And once again, they won over the heterogeneous crowd. What comes across in the band’s performances, apart from the music obviously, is a wonderful sense of enjoyment. No need to prove anything, no need for judgments … just a joyful time listening to music, at times moving, at times exalting, at times it makes you want to dance … at all times it makes for sheer enjoyment. It’s not often you find a band that radiates such a pleasurable empathy as the Cool Cats do during their two-hour performance.
