Blue4

BACKGROUND
Blue4 play in Canberra and its surrounds in Australia. What we play depends on the needs of the gig. We play as a duo, trio or quartet and perform jazz, blues, and our own indie, alternative and ambient grooves.
Three mp3s in the above myspace player "Prison Bound", "Wind in your hair" and "Coral Sea", were done quite a while ago with the kind technical asistance of Jordie Kilby (then) of Canberra AM ABC Radio 666 . This local AM radio station is one of the reasons there is a vibrant music culture in Canberra. We should also thank the legendary David Kilby for inviting us to play live on his (then) morning breakfast show from time to time. David followed that morning show with a cool afternoon show weekdays on ABC 666 and retired in December 2007. Two new recordings loaded into the myspace MP3 player above, "White Powder" and "Treachery of Time", are demo recordings from our current recording project. Over time you will see these evolve to polished recordings complete with solos, percussion and mastered by Michael Shannon for release. Help yourself to the evolving demos as the recordings progress. These two are 'concept recordings' by the Blue4 guitarist/vocalist so that arrangements for soloists etc can be developed.
The band grew out of a regular Sunday musician's pub session at Filthy McFadden's called the Bear Buskers in the late 90's. This culminated in the formation of a couple of Canberra bands and a CD of the Bear Busker's called "the Filthy Sessions". This CD was recorded with the kind technical assistance of Dave Frazer from the ABC in Canberra and the sponsorship of the Phoenix Bar in Canberra.
THE MEMBERS
Ben, Glen, Sandra and Shaun have had or still have day jobs working on environmental issues, child care and welfare work, disability therapy and overseas aid. If you are a charity organisation or a community group concerned with these things we may be prepared to play for free at fundraising functions.
GIGS IN THE RECESSION
A number of venues in Canberra are doing it tough right now. We appreciate the delicacy of their position and wish them well. Consequently the number of gigs we'll be playing in the near future will be less. So if you turn up at some venues expecting to see live music please be sympathetic and continue to support them. We're confident that once things turn around this part of our local culture will flourish once again.
