As you can see, I'm a DJ who has way too many musical influences to list on one page...it would be more like a notebook of stuff. Music inspires the uninspired and moves those that weren't able to move before...I myself half spent more than a small fortune on my record/music collecting and all of my close friends can attest to this...they actually call it "an obsession". I grew up listening to alot of the miami bass music since I lived in Florida and had the privelage of hearing pioneering music by DJ Laz, Magic Mike and 2 Live Crew. This began my early interest in first sort of studying the music and knowing the artists and then moving more into the DJ side of it...I can remember being in 5th/6th grade & riding my bmx to the local Spec's music and buying cassette singles for $0.99...All of that evolved into full-length cassettes by Too Short (when he had solid white tapes)and NWA (when they had the Posse) and then of course, the CD.
It was my parents who first introduced me to vinyl since they had a pretty extensive collection...Lynrd Skynrd, Jim Croce, ZZ Top, Allan Parson Project, Steely Dan, etc...then I hijacked my parents Technics SL-Q350 and started buying my own vinyl. I became really inspired when I started getting into mixtapes from new york ...kid capri, dirty harry, qbert, doo wop, ron g, etc...I thought, "shit...I can do that!" Every good live show that I could go to I would go to so that I could watch the other DJ's style while I was forming and finding my style. When I first heard and met Z-Trip, I realized that I didn't only have to play the hip-hop records but I could also play all the other shit that I had been collecting and enjoying the entire time. It gave all my records in my collection the opportunity to get added to a crate for a party at any given time.
