About Me

‘I’ve got no explosive jacket strapped on but I’m a Terrorist ‘cos what I say is wrong’ sums up Aslan AK’s verbal assault on international injustice. The only son of a Turkish immigrant, Aslan was born in 1983 in the UK. After recovering from paralysis at the age of 3 he developed a strong identification with the underdog. Throughout his youth one of his main passions was poetry writing and after meeting producer Close Control decided to try his hand at music. The end result was recording a demo entitled ‘The Terrorist’ (copyright Aslan AK and Close Control 2006-2009), a song inspired by Cherie Blair of all people!!!! Back in 2002 Aslan was watching the news and was disgusted to find that the then PM’s wife had been forced to apologise for making a neutral statement about the middle east conflict. Mrs Blair had stated that: ‘AS LONG AS YOUNG PEOPLE FEEL THAT THEY HAVE NO HOPE BUT TO BLOW THEMSELVES UP YOU ARE NEVER GOING TO MAKE PROGRESS.’ Aslan put pen to paper and wrote the opening lines to the song, with the knowledge that Cherie Blair was not supporting terrorists but was actually acting as a mouthpiece for the many not the few.Aslan says: ‘the war on terror, the Iraq war, the demonization of minorities and the destruction of civil liberties are part of a sinister imperialist agenda designed to benefit the worlds power elite at the expense of the weak and vulnerable. It is ridiculous attempting to censor people like Cherie Blair and then bombing innocent people to satisfy oil companies.’Aslan is also responsible for the most controversial song on myspace!! 'HOUSE NIGGER NO MORE!', which talks about racism in the UK from the perspective of an immigrant who has tried to fit in and been repeatedly rejected. When asked why he has chosen to use the term 'House Nigger'? Aslan says, 'it is the nearest term to decribe any minority who goes out of their way to fit in and in the process abandons everything. It can apply to any minority, thus the first lines of the song, those who find it offensive are either racist or very ignorant.'Recently Aslan has been incoporating old skool and house music in to his style with a tribute song to Paul Merson, and two other tracks 'Venom' and 'Do you Feel Safe'. Aslan says 'The first music I never really got in to as a kid was early 90's House so I just had to experiment with it, I wanna show House music can still have pretty deep lyrics and sound good.'2009 so far has seen Aslan co-operating with dance music artist and DJ Ashley H, who has produced an electro house mix of an old Aslan track 'Repress Your Oppressor', the tune has recieved recognition in a number of dance clubs.A full album will be released this year so stayed tuned!!!Aslan would like to thank his family for all their support over the years, Ashley H for helping us cross over to the clubs, Scott Noble for believing in my song writing (you should get your compositions on Myspace they are mint!!!) as well as all the fans on myspace who have believed in him from the start particularly Ayesha and Elliott (special thanks to both of you and the interest you both have shown!).
