(WILD) BOYS OF GOD.
Marc Kiskas photography portrays boys groping their way through adolescence - that difficult time when dreams are still alive and man still dares to believe in a reality that is something more than the established truths of the authorities. These boys have a genuine faith in who they are or what they desire to become, although they also may deny their difference. Even still, they suffer because of lack of recognition from contemporary society. We have inherited the notion that we are all God's children. But the uniqueness of these boys is deemed sinful or criminal, instead of recognized as such. They are cast away and adrift as outlaws, children of shame - condemned by an ideology made by and for hypocrites. Their difference is not the mark of sin, but appears as this in the eyes of those who do not dare to dream,- those who in their anxiety choose to respond without "love of their neighbour". Who is the sinner - he who in his innocence believes in a dream, or he who judges his fellow man in fear? This innocence is often punished in society, if not always explicitly, then on a deeper, structural level - in hidden prejudice, in the language of shame and the forces of conformity. The adolescent's innocence, that turns into sorrow and finally hard skin covering the emerging adult - for whom dreams and magic belong to a time irrevocably lost. The pictures try to capture this sorrow, this innocence and the differences no one has the right to judge.
