Shamrock Club - Color Guard, Pipes & Drums

About Me

Established in 1980, by the Shamrock Club of Wisconsin, the Color Guard and Honor Guard began representing the Irish with great pride. With the addition of the Pipes and Drums in 1992, the group has grown in numerous ways. We are the only non-profit, self-supporting group for this chapter of the Shamrock Club.
Annually we lead our very own St. Patrick’s Day parade and host a post parade party in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We are delighted to perform several times at Irish fest each year. Irish fest is the largest Irish gathering and festival in the nation.
From appearing and performing in up to 20 events per year in Wisconsin alone, we have also traveled through out the country. We have appeared in Boston, MA; New York, NY; New Orleans, LA; Chicago, IL; San Antonio, TX and Savannah, GA. One year the group was invited to Ireland for the the Dublin Millenium St. Patrick's Day Parade. Traveling and performing in our “home” was truly an honor.
We are a multi-award winning group! In 1994, we received the Adjutant’s Staff trophy in Savannah. In 2000, we were awarded the 1st place marching band trophy from the Harp and Shamrock Society of Texas for performing in their St. Patrick’s Day parade. In 2006, we received the Charlie Ray trophy in Savannah. We have won 1st place marching band for six consecutive years from the Muskego, Wisconsin Lion’s fest parade and 1st place marching band award for 15 consecutive years for the South Shore Water Frolics parade. In 2008, we received the Best Musical Entry and the Best of Show trophies in New Dublin's St. Patrick's Day parade, along with Best Musical Unit in our very own Milwaukee St. Patrick's Day parade. We've also recently won the Best in Parade trophy from the South Shore Water Frolics parade.
In addition to performing in many parades during the year, we also volunteer our time and talent at various weddings, funerals and charity events. These have included breast cancer fundraisers, Veteran’s and Memorial Day presentations, the Vietnam Veteran’s Moving Wall Memorial and local high school football games. In 2008, we performed for Irish night at the Wisconsin Breast Cancer Show House.
Although we are not all Irish, the Irish heritage is important to us. It has brought many strangers together though out the years forming tight knit relationships. We have been through good times and bad. It HAS become our second family. We look forward to representing the Irish for many years in the future.
Anyone who would like to share / experience the tradition, pride, honor and fun of the Unit, by being a Color Guard, Pipe & Drum member - you will be made most welcome! We welcome ANY nationality! We just require dedication and commitment.
