Kassandra Dasent

Determined, Driven, Multi-faceted, Gifted, Unique...Kassandra Dasent epitomizes all this and so much more.Singer, songwriter and musician; Kassandra was born in Trinidad, West Indies to her mother of East Indian heritage and father of mixed ethnicity (African, Irish and Native Carib Indian). Her cultural diversity serves as an inspiration in her approach to crafting her music.At the age of six Kassandra begin taking clarinet lessons and training in the classical approach. During her childhood and adolescent years she performed in musicals, played in orchestras and sang in gospel choirs and it was during these formative years that she began to develop her vocal range and harmonic abilities by singing rhythm & blues and gospel.Kassandra has been privileged to work in numerous musical projects over the years and some of her highlights include group recordings with the Cirque du Soleil on three albums (Saltimbanco/Mystère/Allegria) and also performing live with the Cirque du Soleil during the Montreal Jazz Festival in 1995.Kassandra was the soloist for the opening ceremonies of the 2006 Gala Juste pour Rire and performed during the Séries Motown Rendez-Vous that was conducted by S-Ankh Rasa, the saxophonist of the late legend Marvin Gaye. Since then, she has appeared as a performer at the Montreux Jazz Festival, Festival International Nuits D'Afrique, Les Midis Financieres Sun Life, Les Francofolies de Montreal, Toronto Afrofest and for the Société Patrimoine d'Expression du Québec.Kassandra is also a commercial model and has played roles in several motion picture films such as The Growing Pains Reunion, Gothika, and her latest role as a singer in the critically acclaimed film "I'm Not There" portraying the life of Bob Dylan.Her years of experience working with many local artists from Montreal and diverse international talents such as Ibro Diabaté, Lorraine Klaasen, André-Marie Tala, Kayans and Sekouba "Bambino" Diabaté among many others have served in preparation for the inevitable launch of her solo career. Kassandra is currently working on the production of her first album.Kassandra Dasent is and remains authentic in her self and that authenticity is evident in the message and essence of her music.
