He studied solfege, classical piano, harmony and chamber music at the Music Academy of Deinze.
Dominique Vantomme first studied classical piano, then switched to jazz at the age of 20. He took lessons from pianists Mike Del Ferro and Marc Matthys at the Royal Music Conservatory in Ghent and attended workshops given by Mark Levine and Rob Madna.
In 96, he attended another workshop with Andy Laverne and David Baker at the University of Louisville, Kentucky (USA).
From '96 to '98 he had electric jazz bands 'Fuzzlite' and 'Jazziz' together with one of his best friends and musicians Tom Mahieu. In 98, he studied in New York with US pianist Kenny Werner. In 99, he received a Prize at the Europ' Jazz Contest in Hoeilaart (B) and was laureate of the Torneo Internationale Musicale (Jazz) Rome.
In '02, he recorded his first jazz album 'Wicked Places' with his own jazz quartet, the second album 'Whatever' is promoted by 'De Werf' (Belgian jazzlabel) and recorded beginning '04.
He was a member of 'To be or not to bebop', a project and band that plays the history of jazz, they give school concerts and workshops. The band works together with the organisation 'Youth and Music'.
He played in a hammond-trio with George Kilby Jr., George is the guitar player of Muddy's piano player Pinetop Perkins. The music of this trio is mainly originals of George Kilby Jr., mixed with some standards and New Orleans groove music.
Dominique Vantomme was the regular pianist of the Big Band '68 of Geraardsbergen, led by Marc Godfroid and The Concord Jazz Ensemble of Kortrijk (B) led by Joost De Ryckere, piano player for the Banana Peel Blues Band, Maxwell Street, bandleader of the Midnight Believers, D-Regulators, etc.

Dominique Vantomme has appeared at the Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland), Amersfoort Jazz Festival (Netherlands), Linköping Jazz and Blues Festival (Sweden), Malines Jazz Day (Belgium), Blue Note Jazz Festival (B), Couleur Café (B), Belgium Rhythm 'n' Blues Festival (B), Sommet du Blues (Switzerland), Luxembourg Jazz Festival (Lux), etc.
Dominique Vantomme also leads his own quartet and trio, and works as a freelance pianist and keyboard player for various bands, including work in recording studios. He has performed for the national television and radio.
He teaches jazz piano at the Conservatory of Kortrijk.
