Ernesto Estruch is a London-based Latin musician. Originally from Havana, Cuba, Ernesto was trained at the National School of Arts ('ENA') in violin and played in the National Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra of the world-famous Tropicana night club until he came to London eight years ago.Although classically trained, Ernesto was always passionate about the different musical styles emerging on the Cuban popular music scene and music from the US, and the rest of the world - soul, funk, hip-hop and reggae. He now leads a five-piece London-based Cuban salsa band, Son de Havana, and is also touring Europe, Japan, the US and Canada with Ska Cubano - a Jamaican and Cuban musical collaboration.Ernesto is a prolific writer, experienced arranger (from duets to Latin big bands) and highly gifted, all-round musician. He is best known among friends and colleagues for his incredible musicality and the beauty of his improvisations.Past projects fall into the genres of funk, hip-hop, salsa / timba, reggae / ska, reggaeton, urban, Latin jazz, Afro Cuban, traditional south American, Latin pop. He's played and recorded with musicians such as Roberto Pla, Alex Wilson, Hanny, Chacon y su Timba, Kirsty MacColl, Alfredo Rodriguez and Madness. And, with his bands, Son de Havana and Ska Cubano, he's supported acts like Eddie Palmieri, Buena Vista Social Club, Gladys Knight, Elio Reve Junior, Ojos de Brujos, Amparanoia, Kool & the Gang, Spanish Harlem Orchestra and joined thousands more on line-ups in just about every major music festival around Europe (Womad, Glastonbury, LoveBox etc), Canada & the US (jazz and world fusion festivals in Chicago, New York, LA, Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa), Japan (Fuji Rock) and more.If you're interested in talking about anything that sounds like the above, or something new, get in touch:
