......A life in a minute?.......... After many years as a musician, piano player, composer or arranger both live and in the recording studio, I'm still having a great time in the performance production and organisation of music related events. I still get to play the piano or keyboard with lots of talented musicians and singers and have been lucky enough to play with many of my hero's and some of the worlds great musical identities. Like American Jazz musicians Clark Terry, Chet Baker, the Buddy Rich Band, Johnny Griffin, Dizzy Gillespie, Ernestine Anderson, Jon Hendricks and others. English Jazz and fusion players, Nucleus, Mike Westbrook, Neil Ardley, Kenny Wheeler, Ronnie Scott and singers like Annie Ross. From my earlier days in Australia I was lucky enough to celebrate music with, John Sangster, Bob Barnard, Don Burrows, Bernie McGann, Graeme Lyall, John Pochee, Alan Turnbull, and in later times Jim Kelly, Andrew Gander, Felix Bloxsom, Gary Holgate and many more from the world of R+B. I have played some of the best known venues in the world like Central Park N.Y. Carnegie Hall, London's Barbican, Festival Hall and Wembley Stadium, The Palais de Sport and Olympia Theatre in Paris and lots more. The venue of course does not dictate the quality of the music and I remember a magic night in London on 7/7/77 at the Seven Dials at 7 oclock, where the stage was lit by one hanging light globe and the music was amazing. Bill Oddie's birthday as it happens and his friendship put me in the Musical Direction chair for The Goodies TV series. Met some good people in the pop industry as well. Cliff Richard, Cilla Black, Olivia Newton John, Mama Cass, Tina Turner, and others. Many recording sessions under the belt, some as director or arranger or composer or all three. Worked on some moovie underscores, Robert Wagner's Madam Sin, John Boorman's Excaliber, some "Hammer Horrors", Superman etc. Some record production for Scott Walker and the Walker Bross, the Goodies, Pacific Eardrum, a band I formed with Joy Yates. I joined Robert Wyatt in the undefinable group Matching Mole. Short lived but widely respected. My minute must be up!! Currently Musical Director for the Dynamic and Irrepressable vocal performance group Jubilation. Still doing gigs with Joy Yates, mostly music festivals these days. I spend some of my time teaching students to be better performers in the musical arts and watch with pride the progress of my R+B star daughter Jade and drumming son Moses. I am always looking for the next gig and chance for musical expression and creativity. Thanks for your interest. Dave
