About Me

The year is 1987. It´s winter. Since this is pre-global warming days, the Dalecarlia region of Sweden is once again haunted by freezing blizzards. In a traditional red painted cottage two young men are recording what is to be the most exciting new music to come out of the region since Nippe Sylwen ten years earlier asked Meta Roos to come sing some Neil Sedaka songs with him and his band. When snow starts melting in the forests around the small industrial community Långshyttan – Långsta called by it's inhabitants – Dala Rapping Force is ready to come out of hibernation. A simpe cassette tape is sent to a local radio station. It causes havok. The lone track of the cassette - Älgjakten, with rapping in the local tongue dalmål - storms the charts and stay there for weeks on end. Only beaten by Patrick Swayze in the race for number one. During the following months tre more tracks are released. Only on cassette, never on record. And never for public release. The follow up "Turistjakten" is a complete failure and only ever played once on radio. But wrong were those who thougt that was the end. A cover version of Trance Dance song "You´re gonna get it" (in dalmål translated to Du kommä få dä") becomes an even bigger hit than the original. Locally, for a short period of time. The following autumn Älgjakten part 2 almost repeats the success of its predecessor. Then – nothing. The band disappears. Until now. 20 years later. It's time to once again listen to the music that for a short period of history made Långshyttan famous. It's time to listen to Langsta Rap.
