About Me

Getting on the Good Foot and Creating the vibe Toronto-based soul-stress, Mz. Moséa, is about to unleash her definition of soul. With melodious signature shifts and serious soprano vocals, she has all the hype de rigueur in live performance along with the coolness of shapely jazz ranges for more intimate appearances. Her voice carries not only the proud flow of an Aretha Franklin, but can also provide on any music genre, that improvisational soul sound, comparable to the legendary great Nina Simone.Born and raised a Torontonian, Moséa refers to herself as a writer first, vocalist second, and without question she has the forte for both. Since as a youth being exposed to the various sounds, of Philadelphia, and Motown, as well as her mother’s love of 1050 chum radio in Toronto, she knew her life would involve song writing and singing in some way. At age 12 she started singing in the church choir and by her late-teens joined the Creole Chorale (Nathaniel Dett Chorale) led by the reputable Choir Master, Brainard Taylor. From once telling her in one of their rehearsals to, “just push it out”, he proved to be pivotal in defining her style today. Moséa professes, “I joined the Chorale as an alto and left as a soprano.” Always dealing with new challenges and disciplines she continues to strive for artistic growth. In addition to the myriad of songs she continues to write for herself, Mzz. Moséa, has worked on collaborative projects with various people in the GTA such as dance genre artist, John James providing background vocals on the song ‘Mother of Hope’, a secondary back-up vocalist to Jully Black, and most recently collaborating with Hip-Hop Artist/Published Poet, Motion of Motion Live. Most of her free time is shared between her son, Zachariah, and song writing with various producers. She’s currently in the process of completing her debut album. Some of her live performances have included an acoustic groove in a very intimate setting at Phat Girl on past Monday night’s in Toronto’s east end. she has been honoured to perform at the Capital Event Theatre for the NABFEME International Leaders Women’s Leadership Summit. She’s had the opportunity to perform at various Music Festivals; Jamaica Day, and most recently has been invited to perform at the Calgary Festival. Moséa has performed across the GTA with the Toronto band, God Made Me Funky, as well as other local bands. A mother, a songwriter, and vocalist, Moséa journeys forward in her ambitions expressing many tides of blessings, love and respect in the music she creates...
