Many people know Patrik-Ian Polk from his years working in the film industry at MTV and Edmonds Entertainment before branching off on his own.
It was in 2000 that his feature debut "Punks" hit the scene and caused quite a buzz. Always heavily influenced by music, Patrik eventually fused his two passions together when he wrote, produced and directed the first gay, black TV series, Noah's Arc- qbout a quartet of gay black friends. The music on the show always played as if it were perfectly cast as the "5th" Best Friend.
Throughout the show's two seasons, Patrik received thousands of fan letters asking for a music breakdown of the episodes and when and if a Soundtrack would ever be released.
As we inch closer to seeing "Punks" make its DVD debut (later this year), so will that of its accompanying Soundtrack. Most people will then be suprised to realize that Patrik, himself had a huge hand in the music for that film. Not only did he write and produce many tracks for that movie, but he performed several as well. Continuing this trend, Polk performed various cover songs for Noah's Arc as well- including Travis' "Flowers in the Window" and Josh Kelley's "Home To Me".
As a "Renaissance Man" of sorts in the Entertainment Industry, has Patrik now set his sights on the music industry? Only time will tell...
