I add the bands that I like, some are famous, others are not, they are merely what influences me and not some form of hero worship. There are people who lived who were never known, who were more praise worthy than most people who I know, or are famous. I Am Anti-Fame, and Anti-Celebrity, I really don't give a damn about the ego of a famous rock star or actor.

Empire of the Black Angel is a fictional story based within the satanic realms making fictional references to both the Church of Satan and The Temple of Set. Bob Swan has created an intriging tale here using a colorful mix of dark and some disturbing characters.

The story is focused on the unholy war between Christians and Satanists that is taking place in modern times. Filled with bloodshed, hatred and yes even a minor love story of sorts. Bob Swan takes his readers into the dark and secretive lives of the satanic clergy and what esoteric knowledge they hold claim to. Using lots of ancient as well as modern detail and throwing in touches of tongue’n’cheek sarcasim adding slight twisted humor which adds to both the fun and the chaos of this novel.

It is surprising that this is the first (but not the last) novel put out by Bob Swan. You can feel his passion and devotion for what he is writing within these pages.This author has found a way to take his readers deep into the abyss and back without making them totally loose their minds.

I admit that I am not a big fan of fiction and I shock myself when I say that that yes I am actually looking forward to the next works from Bob Swan.

The Reverend Dr. Iziah. P. Dollar was in one hell of a fury, he cursed Satan in the name of the lord, he thrashed violently as he pronounced that the lords vengeance would wipe the face of the earth of all Satan’s Children of Darkness for all time. That there would be hell-fire and damnation for all in league with Lucifer, that he would personally cast them into the pit.

“Lord in heaven, look not upon the bodies of these your children, the Beast walks among us lord, this is the work of none other than the Antichrist. Lord, send us the power and the strength to smash our foe and our mortal enemy, lord send us your blessing and divine love, and forgive me; but we got some killing to do. I know you understand and will deliver us from evil, amen.”

Empire of the Black Angel is certainly a big, blockbuster size novel, and I must say, I liked it enormously. There’s plenty of baroque colour, lot’s of child’s fat and bat’s blood (or is it bat’s fat and child’s blood?) and why shouldn’t the Devil have a look in? They say the Devil has all the best tunes.

Bob Swan uses a lot of ancient and modern detail; the effect of this book is somewhat of an updated Dennis Wheatley novel, but without a prejudgement of who the bad and good guys are; indeed if this novel has a message other than being highly entertaining it is, perhaps, the impossibility of definition in this area.

One of my favourite films of all time, despite what Stephen Fry says, it IS a comentary on the state of the UK and it's lurid collaboration with the United States. Except there is no V to save us, there is no Batman to fight for us; we have to fight for ourselves.
