Silence Studio’s is a traditional British analogue art and recording studio that incorporates digital technology set in the heart of the beautiful sprawling grounds of Trentham Lakes and Gardens Leisure Estate in Staffordshire, England, UK.
Owned and ran by producer and artist Jon Aldersea with Mars Macabre as chief sound engineer and Revolution 9 making the tea, the studio has so far enjoyed fifteen years of creative and productive life specializing in all forms of recorded sound and production, visual art and film and video animation.
The host of artists, bands and musicians that the studio has played home to is vast and ranges from the likes of artists as diverse as Bocko, acoustic-based Singer/Songwriter Andrew Hall right through to Electro-Indie rock bands such as Sonic State and Big Cash Prizes, all which can be heard here. Even the very voice of the king of rock’n’roll, Elvis Presley himself, has graced the tape at Silence on several occasions in late 2006/07 on a number of remixes of old Elvis classics for Sony/BMG and RCA records to celebrate the thirtieth commemorative year of his death.
The tranquil beauty and splendor of the Garden’s and Lake at Trentham are a key factor to the atmosphere at Silence Studio’s and play an integral part in providing active artists and musicians the stimulation and creativity needed for recording and it was in 2004, as a musical and artistic testament to his home of the last twelve years, that Jon set about the honored and, what would prove to be for many of his contemporaries, arduous task of writing, arranging, performing, producing, recording and designing the artwork for the album ‘Music For The Gardens’ along with Andrew Hall playing acoustic, bass, lead and rhythm guitars, sitar and singing backing/harmony vocals.
The album is a ten-track ambient/electro-acoustic journey into the mystique and wonder of not only time spent by Aldersea at Trentham, but surely by thousands of others too, for when the estate was first opened to the public in the mid-twentieth century after being home to generation’s of the Sutherland dynasty including the Duke's Of Sutherland, it was the remaining features such as the Old Ballroom, Miniature Railway, Hollywood-style Lido, the stunning Italian Garden’s and the Woodland and Lake that would soon become the adopted playgrounds of recreation for countless other generations more, most notably the good people of the City Of Stoke-on-Trent, the county of Staffordshire and beyond. It was in these years leading back from the post-war days right up to the late 1970’s and also now, in the 21st Century with it's current regeneration program that many fond memories of Trentham have been acquired, therefore with tracks like ‘Into The Garden’, ‘The Ballroom’ and ‘Song For The Seasons’, 'Music For The Gardens' provides a soundtrack rich in nostalgia evoking memories old and new of times spent in a place held with such affection in many hearts. ‘Music For The gardens’ by Jon Aldersea can be bought from the visitor centre on the retail village at Trentham or from Hanley Museum in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, UK.
Silence Studio’s is also the home of the record label Goldphone Recordings which is run by Perseus Jones and Spartacus Mantra. Current continuing projects include the recording and production for the debut album of Staffordshire Singer/Songwriter Andrew Hall and the development of visual-poetic space cadets ‘Paperclip Cockroach’.
