I was born and raised in Southern California. Currently I live in the Suburbs of Santa Clarita. Growing up I seemed to have a natural interest in music and arts. Through my younger years I started listening to a lot of rock, jazz, punk, metal and hip hop. Being brought up on a variety of different styles of music had really influenced a passion for the art, turning from what had been a mere interest into an absolute obsession. Although I was content with the music I had been exposed to at that time, knew there was a whole world of music out there that could not only best define me as a person, but as an individual. It wasn't until my adolescent years that I discovered electronica. At first I dabbled a bit in trance and house music. It was fun and I loved how deep the music was.
Shortly after this discover I made it a priority to peel back a few layers and learn more about this culture, so it was 2003 that I attended 'Planet Of The Drums' at my first massive, Electric Daisy Carnival. Unbeknownst to myself, this is where I would stumble upon a sound that was exactly what I had been looking for... Enter Drum 'N' Bass.
The sound elements were far deeper than the house and trance music that I had heard. The energy and tempo grabbed my attention immediately. The drums pierced my chest, the basslines gave me the chills, the atmosphere put me in an altered state and the music as a whole just seemed to have so much more movement and substance. I began with the starter kit artists like Dieselboy, AK1200, and Aphrodite. It was the harder, more aggressive side that pulled me in at first. The more I listened, the more I discerned shades of influence from all the different styles of music that I was into growing up. I knew then that I was in love!
Come 2005, I decided to buy some decks and start DJing. Right around this time I met a man by the name of Chris Cisneros, otherwise known by the artist Magnafide. After meeting Chris, the rest was pretty much history. He invited me over to a friend's place to spin records and this is where he introduced me to my now good friends Overdraft, Covert, Living Proof and Medium, all DJ's as well. I picked it up naturally so it lead me to believe that THIS was me, the outlet that I had searched so long for, THE art that would allow me to express not only myself but also my abilities in their true form. I started taking it seriously and decided the next level was critical to my development.. I had a short background at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood. In the short period of time I was there I studied hard, learned a lot and applied that knowledge to what was going to be my next step... Producing.
This was 2006 and I haven't looked back. By this time my interests within the different sounds of the genre were shifting. After rummaging through various styles over the past few years I had developed a newly found love for a certain brand that best described me. This is the sound you here in my music today. My music is a reflection of myself, my being, my thoughts. At the same time my music speaks for itself and is left open for interpretation for the listener. I've always considered myself to be an honest, sincere, loving person. Someone my family and friends can always count on. As a kid I thought I had an idea of where I might be headed, Though it wasn't until one weekend in 2003 where I would uncover who this man really was. Now I know, now you know, this is me.... this is Dubsky.
