About Me

"Hey y'all, whenever we’re in the Windsor-Detroit area, we be sure to dial it into Velvet Vernon's Motown Hoedown on CJAM 91.5 FM."
--Dave Hartman, Southern Culture on the Skids
Cow-punk, rockabilly, psychobilly, surfabilly, Texas Swing, blues, a bit of gospel, and any other good excuse for real country music -- come and get it Wednesday nights from 7 to 8 (EST) on CJAM 91.5 FM in Windsor and Detroit. Beyond, the Jammy-Award winning show can be heard at www.cjam.ca. And for archives of our most recent shows, cut and paste the following links into your browser.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Requests and Submissions
The Motown Hoedown is as much a garage show as a country show. So if the music is good, we don’t care if it’s recorded in a bomb shelter, a la Bill & Lefty. Which means, yes, we do play requests -- and I give the numbers out every week -- but the best requests are for good songs we haven’t heard.
Acts submitting music to the show should tape a note to the jewel case stating that your CD is an unsolicited submission to the Motown Hoedown. Please mark envelopes as so:
