Frozen Semen started to shape into its current form in fall 2005 when Otto joined the band. The band started rehearsing regularly and the trio began to gather decent playing equipment. They played mostly Mokoma covers.
In 2006 our first bassist completed the lineup. The band practiced hard for their first gig on 1.11.2006, which went out pretty well for a first live show. Encouraged by the gig they started to rehearse harder and play more difficult songs, some of which of their own material. The first songs were pretty much Otto's work. The songs turned out to be somewhere between hardcore punk and thrash metal.
During 2007 the band played a couple of gigs, a longer set of mostly covers and a couple of songs of their own, along with two smaller sets of mostly their own music. The band decided to move to a better rehearsal place and start practicing for recording their first demo.
At the beginning of 2008 it became clear that we'd need a new bassist. Otto knew Antti through his other band, the guys thought he just might have what it takes. They were wrong, since he had a lot more! A motivated guy with an open mind, that's all that really counts. We had trouble in getting to move to a new rehearsal place. Somehow it just took months longer than it should have taken. Well, we weren't in a hurry.
At the end of March 2008 the band recorded their first demo of three songs called "The New Beginning", "The Way Out" and "Far Beyond Mind Control". "The Way Out" was mostly Markus' work, but everyone in the band had written something in it, just like it's supposed to be. Since the recording arrangements were pretty authentic and unique, we wrote a long diary about them (in Finnish).
During 2008 the band played a couple of gigs that featured mostly their own material, demo songs, older unrecorded songs and some newer, yet unrecorded songs along with some covers. Our newer songs are naturally more versatile than the first ones and feature more complex song structures. It became also clear that our music derives from far deeper than just metal, probably blues or something. The outcome is somewhere between heavy and thrash metal.
Currently the band is writing new material, looking for gigs and of course, spending precious hours at the rehearsal place.
