You are my hiding place; you will preserve me from trouble; you will surround me with songs of deliverance." (Psalm 32:7)Born and raised in Lusaka, Zambia. I always wanted to sing, just never thought I had what it took to do it. Rap became my alternative; my first attempt at rap was when I was around 9 years old. I heard one of my friends at school do a little rap to LL Cool J’s ‘I Need Love’. Back then, feeling tremendously shy and withdrawn, after school I went home and started rehearsing what I had heard in private. I did not know the exact lyrics nor did I have the actual music but what I had heard was sufficient for me to make a rap around the lyrics. Around that time there was a new program from the states on Zambian Television called ‘The Beam’. The programme was highly influential in developing my musical ear for the rap genre.
So I began to rehearse what I had heard, not remembering the full version I decided to add a bit of lyrics from ‘The Beam’ feat Kurtis Blow’s ‘Basketball’. Even then I seemed to have an inert knack for creating hooks and musical phrases. I have always been good at remembering spoken information and so becoming a rapper came with the package.
