The Lord Rochester album is now available!!!! The album, entitled HEY! will be released in May and contains 13 original Lord Rochester songs. Below is a wee preview of one of the songs from the album pre final mix and title change ...
We also have a track 'Deathbed' included on the new 'What's Cookin' compilation.
Lord Rochester are booked to play at the Spiders Web in Edinburgh on the 30th May and also booked for Hemsby Rock and Roll festival in October 2009 - which is a long way away and we'll probably be a Jazz funk band by then (just kidding!)
ROAD RUNNING with ROCHESTER
Friday 10th April saw us at the Nags Head in Rochester. I haven't been in this place for 20 years and...... it was excactly the same. I used to come here with Russ Lax (Pop Rivets) and watch chugging blues bands and the mighty FANG who were several steps ahead of a chugging blues band.
Due to the short notice the pub was quiet but, supported by Stuart Turner, we played up a storm and got a yowling reception from the crowd (including M Hampshire, L Black, J Barker and A Crockford). Next up was Ryan's Bar in London where we were part of the Big Beat Bonanza, where we had such a good time last year and were looking forward to showing off our new songs etc. This was a hard job. We had a god awful sound, hardly any backing vocals and the guitar sounded like Wes Mongomery (great in the right place but...). Officially the worst AC30 I have ever used. We (I) went home grumpy.
350 miles up the road to Edinburgh on a greasy fog ridden Wednesday night. We had a BALL!!! - Though I say it myself we were brilliant and as we should have been in London. The crowd were superb and very shouty. I have a recording of the show and may well post it somewhere and call it "Live at Ryan's Bar" to show people what it should have been like.
Bo Diddley - extraordinary guitarist, trailblazer, poet, phenomenal singer and a showman who talked to you like a human being – I defy anyone to match him.
Bo I thanks you deeply for all of us that you have taught and wish you well wherever you are.

This summer saw much of the Lord Rochester tourbus encamp to Gijon in Spain, part of which was a scheduled gig at the Savoy Club. Unfortunately due to incredibly high demand for his services Tim could not get to Gijon for the gig as he was tied up bailing out performers at this years Edinburgh Festival. After careful negotiation it was decided to complete the booking using Jorge Explosion from Spain's Dr Explosion on drums. Jorge is also the proprietor of Circo Perrotti Studios in Gijon. After all this malarkey the gig then had to be rescheduled to a different date and different club due to an attack of poor communication...
The gig took place at the fine Maluka Club c/Capua, 6 - Gijon on the 1st August and a splendid time was had by all. A very noisy audience enjoyed the set and many stated that it was the best gig of the week, overshadowing those of the Euro ye ye festival which featured The Pretty Things and other Mod bands. The crowd did not notice that the band were fighting an uphill battle for the entire set. Drummer Jorge was struck down with an allergic reaction and had a handkerchief stuck permanently to his nose and Lord Rochester played the entire set suffering from Double Pneumonia - with eyes shut most of the time to prevent vertigo hopefully the audience took it to be emotional involvement with the profound lyrics of Hey Mr Pineapple and I tried to send a Monkey by UPS. But as Jorge said at the end of a very successful gig -Never Surrender.

REVIEW
"Thankfully, around five minutes later the first act of the evening and a smattering of paying customers appeared. Lord Rochester and his cohorts were not on the billing but sparked off this Beatsville Records evening with perfectly pitched rock 'n' roll at it's purest, unadulterated, tartan sports jacket wearing, lo-fi, fiddletastic best."
Sensible young man!
