I'm a pocket sized, sort-of red-haired, chubby ingénue. I started off this life twenty-three years ago, an obvious last minute decision, born in record time to get my business rolling. I share my birthday with Madonna. Often plopped in front of the Beta-Max, I was nurtured on music from the 60s, cartoons and movies from the 80s, and a completely alternate reality that I live in. I was cultured on big words, minimum (though often encouraged) verbs, excessive travel, and doted on by my crazily fantastic, utterly loveable family.
Much like everyone else, who doesn't have an ailment hindering them, I thoroughly enjoy music. For a long time I wanted to be a singer. I play the piano and I taught myself the bass and harmonica. I find it inexplicably appealing when guitarists stomp. My first favorite band was the B-52s, I listened to Cosmic Thing until the tape stopped. I had a very serious run-in with punk rock that left a musical hole in my head the size of six very fun, very self absorbed years. It was totally incapacitating in terms of music. I have about a million favorite bands and songs and albums. I am constantly rotating who reigns supreme in my fickle musical heart, but there are some musicians and songs that are more like the soundtracks to my insane life than merely music. Such as:
I enjoy writing. In regards to which, I have been scribbling things down since I was about seven or eight, upon the introduction to my first journal. I've written shelves worth of really bad stories, semi-insightful literary essays, exceptionally, nay remarkably, bad poetry, and one finished play (written at the age of ten called "X-Men the Musical"). I moonlight as a writer for a website about sequential art, which if you didn't know is art in sequences. It's a literacy organization and sometimes I'll scribble a line.
I am addicted, positively, to comic books. I've been to the largest comic convention two years running (denied at the door one year prior) and it was the greatest experience of my life
I was born in Long Island (excuse me, Strong Island) New York and have lived in California, Philadelphia, and (briefly) England. I need to move constantly; I am always craving change.
I love knitting. If you search your local public transportation you can probably find me hunched over some yarn/fabric based project, which will ultimately take me too long to finish while I try to ignore whichever person riddled with insanity sauce attempts to touch my hair or read my feetI've been debriefed from the military and had secret clearance for two years. No, for real
You can usually find me with a cigarette falling out of my fingers, a straw nestled inbetween my lips, profanity streaming from my mouth while listening to any fantastic band that I happen to like that month, getting into loads of trouble with my friends. My friend Hinton once described the planet I would live on as, "having a lot of Sonic Youth on it." If you added a library and a terrifyingly large collection of music and vintage dresses, along with Mario 64 and any number of Super Nintendo games; I would dub it planet Jane-Rebecca. You could move there for the small sum of lots of strawberry milk, gallons of Frank's Red Hot Sauce, and loyal devotation to me, Jane-Rebecca.
I have a giant bleeding heart, an affinity for debauchery, a taste for adventure, and a liking for Disney movies and French Cinema. I draw on post-it notes. I'm a horrific sci-fi adventure wrapped in a supremely small Janie-sized package.

Also, the movie that made me a star. Thanks for my start, Tron!
