About Me

www.Myspace.com/HillaryClinton2008
I'm supporting Hillary Clinton in her bid for presidency because I'm a liberal with some conservative tendencies and don't want to see our country run by the fringe element (on either side of the political spectrum). Plus, I will do anything I can to get Bill Clinton back in the spotlight, as it brings me back to my glory days, the 1990s.
I'm a friendly sort. I'm a writer and sometime book editor. I've been in St. Louis, Misery, for the past year because my mom is very ill and I'm her caregiver. Usually, I live in an ol' Craftsman house in Los Angeles with my one-eyed dog, Harry, aka The Underdog. I'm fairly mellow and love to throw dinner parties with big spreads, but also love to go out and see live music.
I have a dream of one day spending a month or so hopping trains across the country. I have wanted to be a hobo since I was a child.
Right now I'm churning out a mystery novel (the first in an infinite series) called I FALL TO PIECES: A KIT GUNNING MYSTERY. I'm going to finish this fucker come hell or high water.
Things I like: the woods, the mountains, the desert, the ocean, rivers and lakes, my synagogue, coming up with big menus to serve a bunch of people, holing myself up and reading for insane stretches of time, meandering through thrift shops, taking photos with toy/novelty cameras, collecting old country-western and jazz and blues and soul albums, puffy vests and long winter scarves, Fisher-Price Little People, candles in colored glass containers, the smell of burning wood (as in a campfire, not arson), Avalon Cabernet Sauvignon, attending readings, playing Scrabble and other board games, driving up to Kernville as much as possible, strong coffee in the morning, sunnyside-up eggs with toast for dippin', helping others, and trying to improve the world. Getting out on the highway and driving and driving for long stretches, then pulling over at truck stops for cheap cowboy hats, sunglasses, '70s country CDs, and giant Cokes. Also, I am currently coveting my mom's ceramic and glass hen collection. I must mention again that I love eggs. They are extremely versatile and high in protein...

My Interests

Tryin' to keep my one-eyed dog from escapin' through the window. Eatin' peach cobbler.

I'd like to meet:

Other friendly sorts.Nadine Pegler, my grade-school music teacher, who said I couldn't sing. But she's dead now. Seance anyone?Jesse James, so I could give him a good what-for.

Music:

Dolly Parton. Loretta Lynn. Bickering country duets. Country story songs. Lonesome howling. '70s country. Protest songs. Anything with a good story. Despite my love for blues and country music, however, my favorite tunes of all time are the 1962 novelty song "Monster Mash" as well as Warren Zevon's masterpiece "Werewolves of London." Ah-ooooo.

Movies:

The Wizard of Oz, Breakfast at Tiffany's, North by Northwest, The Killing, Fargo. (In that order.) I'm a Steve McQueen fan, too. Films I don't like: most dramas. They're always trying to *teach* you something.

Television:

LOST, Top Chef, No Reservations With Anthony Bourdain, Hart to Hart, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, any of the Law and Order varieties, Dragnet, Unsolved Mysteries, The Twilight Zone. Any crime show, really--especially if it involves reenactments.

Books:

Authors I like: James Ellroy. Patricia Highsmith. Donna Tartt. Charles Willeford. Caleb Carr. Anne Sexton. Flannery O'Connor. Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, and other Beat writers. Rebbe Nachman of Braslav. Crime novels and crime reportage/nonfiction. With the exception of James Joyce (a genius), I am not fond of "experimental" fiction. I enjoy good stories with original plot lines and strong characters.

Heroes:

My sweet mom.
