Luke and Brie are, indeed, on a first date. At turns charming and frustrating, Luke and Brie’s night-long date takes them from a dive bar to a house party to the streets of Los Angeles. Throughout the evening, earnest Luke does his best to impress gregarious Brie while harboring a secret inkling that she’s likely out of his league. Luke does his best to defend his big night from a who’s who of interlopers, hoping that his charm and wit will help him win the girl in the end. As the pair’s developing relationship inches from flirtation towards something more substantive, the evening’s myriad distractions will melt away leaving only snowballing misunderstandings mixed with electric moments of connection, each with the potential to be either the igniting spark or the crushing end of their young relationship.
"Chad Hartigan's micro-budget debut feature is a tender, honest, and acute portrait of young adulthood in Los Angeles. His characters aren't hip schemers sucked into the Hollywood prism. They are sensitive, fully formed individuals who are yearning to make an honest connection. Hartigan brings an authenticity to his direction that feels like he isn't just making this stuff up; it's as if he's reliving his own past experiences, in order to better understand his own life and the lives of those around him." - Michael Tully, Hammer to Nail
"So what makes Luke and Brie special? Maybe nothing, and maybe that’s it — maybe it’s not interesting because it’s entering into unchartered territory, but because it takes us through universal, well-worn feelings and makes them feel new" - Karina Longworth, Spout.com
"Poignantly true-to-life" - Hampton Style Magazine
"OK and inoffensive and kinda smart" - Eric Alterman, The Huffington Post
