His name is John Philippe, better known as "Twoface" the lyrical messiah. Twoface was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 1st 1986. He grew up in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. His father and his mother were very strict, especially when it came down to raising their children. Twoface has one sibling, a brother named Jores, who assumed the alias "Throwback" because he was born in Jersey. His parents were hard workers and were mostly never at home. Twoface had no friends and wasn’t allowed to step out of the house. Left alone, he found comfort in music, developing the ability to rhyme at a very young age. Obsessed with hip-hop music Twoface would often rewind the cassette tapes over and over just to listen to the lyrics and learn the songs. He would later on emulate his favorite rappers over beats he would make himself bumping his hands on the kitchen table. He began writing poetry at the age of 12 which developed into writing his own lyrics. After performing at his high school talent show, in which he and his friends came out second place, Twoface knew that Hip-Hop was where is heart was. With his first taste of fame, Twoface began to study the best MCs of all time from the U.S: Nas, Jay-Z, Wyclef, Lauryn Hill, Slick Rick, KRS-One, RAKIM, Kool G Rap, Big Daddy Kane, Tupac, Biggie, Jadakiss, Styles P, The Roots, Common, Talib kweli, Mos def, Kanye West, Papoose, Cassidy , Mase, etc… From Canada and European countries: Booba, Mc Solar, Muzion (IMPOSS), Neg Mawon, Jacky, Ben J, Saian Supa Crew; From Haiti: Mater Dji, Money Mike, ASRAP,ORS, Rap N Family… Growing up in Haiti, Twoface was exposed to more than just one genre of music; because listening to your favorite radio stations in Haiti, you will find yourself enjoying sounds from all over the world. Using his linguistic skills, Twoface learned how to rap not only in English but in French and in Creole also. Twoface is versatile, unlike some other artists he possesses the ability to commercialize his music and still stay true to his roots as a lyrical M.C. Twoface makes tracks that will comfort you, educate you, and even get you to dance. When asked: “what type of rapper are you? Twoface states: I’m just me, I write about how I feel at the moment or about personal life experiences. I’m a conscious rapper because I’m conscious of what I say, when I say it. I make party tracks because it’s not only about thinking, and crazy metaphors… bottom line I not only make hits, I make classics.
