In a world saturated with discouraging news, it is refreshing to hear hopefulsongs. Jeff Hanshaw has provided us with an alternative to the MTV trash we mustendure. His songs are a good representation of the man himself: calm, insightful, passionate, and vulnerable.
Jeff's upcoming 2008 release, "While Pensive Poets", consists of tennumbers, which will find their way into the hearts of any so fortunate to obtaina copy. The music itself is deep-rooted in classic rock with a folk influence.Whether a song is layered with heavy drums and multiple electric guitars, or ifthe arrangment merely contains a single acoustic guitar, an Arabic drum, andJeff's calming voice, "While Pensive Poets" is a treat for the ears. Onecontributing factor for this release having such warm symmetry, is the fact thatJeff performs every instrument including all the guitar parts, bass notes, drumming, percussion, and all vocal parts. "While Pensive Poets" is a work withunrivaled inspiration.
When performing live, Jeff works with a local band the Cause Effect based in Zephyrhills, Florida todeliver the songs from "While Pensive Poets." It is a treat to hear their liveinterpretations of the recorded songs. The band is a refreshing, talented groupof anti-rock stars. They're quiet, passive, introspective types, lost inthe beauty of the songs they're performing. Jeff serves as the bridge, talking openly, honestly, and quietly with the crowds, which further endears himto audiences.
Jeff Hanshaw is something quite different from the normal mind-numbing garbagewe've grown accustomed to on the radio. When "While Pensive Poets" isreleased, obtain a copy. If Jeff is performing in your area, go see him.Indulge yourself with rejuvenating, inspiring, absolute regalement.

While Pensive Poets...what does the title mean???

It comes from the Alexander Pope quote, "While pensive poets painful vigils keep - Sleepless themselves to give their readers sleep"   I thought this was fitting, because I wrote and recorded th...

I just love Eric Clapton.  I respect the man for knowing his roots (blues) and for incorporating his influences into his own music.  He's taken the music of Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, and...
