Trafficking involves a process of using illicit means such as threat or use of force or other forms of abduction, of fraud, of deception, of the abuse of power or of a position of vulnerability.STATISTICS♥ There are 27 million people living in slavery today.♥ Human trafficking generates the third largest profit of all criminal activity, following only drug and arms trafficking.♥ Every 10 minutes a woman or child is trafficked into the United States.♥ Human trafficking has become a 9 billion dollar a year industry.♥ Victims are forced into prostitution or to work in quarries and sweatshops, on farms, as domestics, as child soldiers, and in many forms of involuntary servitude.♥ Of the 600,000-800,000 people trafficked across international borders each year, 70 percent are female and 50 percent are children.♥ 200,000 American children are at high risk for commercial sexual exploitation.♥ The average age of first being prostituted is 13.
