Tim Johnson grew up in a small logging community in western Oregon, and it's evident his rural roots run deep in his words and his approach to music. His musical tastes and interests vary widely, but country music was and always will be his first love. Tim's early influences include artists such as Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson and Waylon Jennings.
Tim has been writing songs and performing on guitar and piano since the age of 11. After graduation from college, he spent five years in Japan as an English teacher. During that time, he led a band performing mostly his own songs that appeared weekly
in Tokyo venues.
Tim moved to Nashville and was immediately recognized as a major songwriting talent, being offered contracts from six major publishers not long after arriving in town.
As a writer he has enjoyed considerable success with over 60 major cuts by such greats as Diamond Rio, Joe Diffie, LeeAnn Womack, Skip Ewing, and Pirates of the Mississippi. He had a ..1 with Mark Chestnutt with "Thank God For Believers" and "Someone You Used To Know" with Collin Raye.
Other Top Ten hits include "I Let Her Lie" by Darryl Singletary and "Maybe He'll Notice Her Now" by Florida's own Mindy McCready. He has recent cuts with Reba McEntire, Trace Adkins, Andy Griggs, George Strait (He Must Have Really Hurt You Bad), Kellie Pickler (Things That Never Cross A Mans Mind) and Blaine Larsen.
