Born in the Capital, O.T. City's own Shorty (A.K.A. 2Tone) is bringing you that rawness and undeniable flavour the game has been waiting for.
Born on August 17th 1984, Shorty (who's real name is Jesse Gilbert), had always turned to music as a tool to channel his anger, frustration, and stress. As a youth, attention from his peers because of music sparked his interest to become a recording artist. After realising what his voice and message could do for others, Shorty knew he was blessed with a talent that would be wasted if overlooked.
Since the age of 13, Shorty has writen for numerous artists as well as writing his own rhymes & poetry. However, after a meeting with a long time friend of Shorty's family, Quam (owner of 456 Fashions), Shorty decided to raise his level of dedication to rap. Long discussions with Kwame brought to light the fact that Kwame's aspirations and goals were very similar to those of Shorty's. Taking in every word that was spoken to him, the conversation inspired 2tone to put everything on hold to focus on his dreams. Vowing to represent 456, the hood, and everybody who stood behind him; Shorty introduced his new alias "2Tone" and began a new movement in Ottawa, that would forever change the rap game.
In 2005, 2Tone found his right hand man, Mr. Mean. Now both confidant and homeboy, the connection between Mr. Mean and 2Tone was discovered while recording a song for another local artist. The two quickly realized their flow and tones nicely complimented each other, and the two decided to unite. Over the next few months, Mr. Mean and 2Tone would record numerous tracks together, develop concepts, and further develop their unique sound. The chemisty between the two was soon undeniable; they knew what the next wise move would be.
2Tone & Harassa Mafia came together as one. Forming HoodMoney The two were unstoppable. This merging would later be called "The New O.T City Movement"(HoodMoney Records). In Early 2007, 2Tone & Mean dropped their mixtape entitled "Hood Tales Vol. 1" Under Hood Money Records. It Is Now Available For Download Across The Net.. Later In 2007 2Tone Found His Other Right Hand Man & New Face For HoodMoneyRecords Cee "Youngest In Charge" With The Success Of 3rd Letter From The Bet And Raw Talent That Could Be Compared To NONE Cee Was The Perfect Addition To HMR613.. 2Tone & Cee Quickly Put The Wrd Out Collected The Best Colllaboz & Put Together What Wld Be later known As The Most Anticipated Mixtape Release In A Long Time "The ARMAGEDDON E.P" With over 1000 units already Gone for this first installment, there's no stopping 2Tone and Cee or their plans to take the Canadian rap game to a entirely new level.
