The Kenzmen

Three piece Indie /Folk / Rock/ Funk

About Me

Steve Michael - Lead Vocals / Guitar / Songwriter Steve, a transplant from Southern Oregon, played for years as a solo artist in many different venues around pdx. Influenced by John Lee Hooker, Bob Marley, Bob Dylan, The Police; Steve learned to enjoy music by joining jams around bonfires in the forest. Steve writes many of the original songs played by The Kenzmen. He resides and teaches in Portland for his day gig.Judas Espinor - Drums / Vocals Judas is a third generation musician influenced by Peter Gabriel, The Police, King Crimson, Yes, and Audioslave. They all drive his ambition to become a better drummer. Judas has been gigging in Portland for seven years: Ash Street, The Good Foot, Station 66, Laurel Thirst, and Mt. Tabor. After being taught by Roger Espinor to play at age four, Judas took another artistic road to pursue-drawing and painting. At age 25, he came back to his roots and his drums. Also, Judas plays with cover band "Saturated Phats."John Tompson - Bass / Vocals John began playing music with the cello at age nine. By age 15, John was lured to the bass guitar by the sounds of James Jamerson, John Deacon, and Paul McCartney. His first band, "Saturday Night Special", recorded an EP in the summer of 1996. John played three years in the Augustana College Jazz Ensemble in addition to several jazz combos during his college days. In the fall of 2002, he moved to Portland, and founded a "Kinks" cover band called "Kinda Kinks."
