She continued to sing in various musical theater groups and Gospel choirs in High School. During her college years at Wesleyan , Novella continued to explore her love of music. Immersing herself in music, she participated in various groups (jazz orchestra, gospel choir and chorale groups) and became a vocalist in bands of varied styles including Afro beat, Hip-Hop and Soul. Novella expanded during this time to write songs influenced by such artists as Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone, Bjork, Billie Holliday, Sarah Vaughn and Stevie Wonder. Novella’s vocal style and lyrics reflect her introspective, passionate and inspirational nature. Upon graduation, Novella began her career as a professional artist, performing her original works with Onliest, a talented group of female singers, songwriters and musicians.
