Walking Buffalo - Richard Mckay is a proud Metis/Anishinabe, that originally comes from Crane River, Manitoba. Born to parents Anita Neault and Rick Mckay Sr. on November 17/1981. Richard was Born in The Pas , MB ~but he grew up in Brandon, MB. Anita and Richard both share an identical passion for music as she is very influential to Richard; acting as his mentor, teacher and works as one of his guides. Richard comes from a very influential musical background , Anita whom Richard considers to be the back bone for his success and has contributed to his talent by teaching him how to play the guitar, this is very important to Richard’s approach to song writing . Richard has Natural capabilities when it comes to creating music, he can hear the song play out in his head and writes from his personal life experiences both from his past and present.Richard and Anita are a mother and son team which is unique in aboriginal music, Anita sings on all of Richard’s material the connection that they both have for one another can be felt through the music~ its truly a beautiful thing ! Richard’s style can be described as country rock, folk, and acoustic. His music is heartfelt and I can be felt a mile away, known to make people cry when they hear it for the first time. Richard's music is a form of healing for some and Richard feels happy to know that his music is being heard and most importantly being felt by others.
