Galway Food Not Bombs (est. April 2007) is a non-religious, non-profit collective of volunteers who take to the streets of Galway every Sunday with pots and pans in their hands, driven by the idea that our society needs things that bring life - not things that bring death. We are devoted to non-violent ways of changing society; eliminating hunger through recovering piles of surplus food from local businesses that would otherwise go to waste, then preparing and sharing it with the public.
Food Not Bombs supports peace camps/actions by providing meals during events, advocates non-violent vegan/vegetarian food, and promotes ecological awareness regarding waste. We are an anti-profit collective and thus although we accept small cash donations, we much prefer donations of things we could use in our actions; rice, spices, oil, gas, catering supplies, etc.
If you are interested in giving a hand with our work from time to time please don't hesitate to ask any of the volunteers for more information.

=============================
Food Not Bombs is an international movement, consisting of a series of autonomous and independent collectives, each with the aim of distributing free vegan and vegetarian friendly food to those who want or need it. Food Not Bombs activists the world over act against the policies of large companies and governments, that perpetuate a system that allows hunger to persist despite the abundance that surrounds us.
We in the Galway Food Not Bombs Collective believe that some things are more important than money, and that nutrition is a basic human right. Nobody should have to go hungry. We find that distributing vegetarian food is the most non-violent way we can promote this view. We oppose militarism, capitalism, homelessness and hunger wherever it appears in the world, and we want to do our part to try and push these things into the dark shadows of history.
So have a bite of free food with us. There is no catch. PEACE
