About Me

WillowStar Squires was born in NYC, grew up with a musical family and went to school back east. After finding that economics was more of a theoretical interest of hers, she left her job with the Capital Markets firm and "headed out to where the pavement meets the sand" to become a Grand Canyon river guide. After 5 years on the river, she went back to school for massage therapy. She has been in the healing field for over 10 years, and now lives in Victor Idaho with her husband and dog. She started writing songs somewhere between California and Jackson Hole, and her musical roots began to emerge. Her work is based in a natural feel for percussion with an ability to sing her melodies around the rhythms. Her lyrics stem from her obsession with philosophy and she shares her experiences and views of the world with passion. She sings from the heart, moving her audiences with her vocal texture and improvisational style. She accompanies herself on an acoustic jumbo goddess guitar with a predominately rhythmic finger picking style.
