April 3rd, 2009 - Well! Its been quite a while since I've updated this section. Its been a wild ride these last 12 months! Some failures. Some accomplishments. Some tough lessons learned. Some new respect earned. Hello. I'm Russ Perry. I've been writing music for many years now, only doing it a bit more seriously though in just the recent few years. I have had the privelege of playing with some mighty superb musicians over the past years. Its an honor, always, and brings new enlightenment. I certainly look forward to sharing the stage with many more to come.
I have since parted ways with my fellow Hoons. It is hard to believe its been a full year since then. But, their dedication and growth has been truely amazing to watch. In that time, I have managed to put together the project that I first gave birth to in my head back in 2006. Didn't talk about it TOO much, though there are a few of you who might remember my thoughts on the matter way back when. Sunbury is the name of the band. We played our first show, all be it a bit rusty in my opinion, on January 30th of this year. Since then, the support from friends and others have been very encouraging, and the positive feedback on our sound and style has been quite interesting to hear! Im lucky to be able to play with Catherine, Andy and Matt. EXCELLENT musicians! Excellent friends!! We are currently in the studio recording our 10 track album, Edith. If you have not heard yet, go to http://www.myspace.com/sunbury to check us out. I will be (hopefuly) in the coming days uploading pre-mastered sample tracks from our coming CD.
When this cd is done, and my schedule allows, i will begin recording my solo album, 73. This will be mostly acoustic tracks containing some new songs, as well as some pretty old songs I have written. I will keep you posted on this as time goes by.
