About Me

It's Rock'n'Roll.
It's not meant to be intellectual or ground-breaking or cover all shades of the human heart.
It's meant to rock.
And roll.

My name is Cyrus, or Doc Cyrus as I'm working as a psychiatrist near Cologne, Germany.
I became involved in Germany's Mod Scene in the Mid Ninetys and soon traveled to international Mod Weekenders across Europe. I always liked English Freakbeat and American Garage Music but on these Weekenders I got addicted to other - to me new - sounds also: here I first heard about Northern Soul and R'n'B ... and I loved it.
I started collecting original 45s - first mostly Freakbeat and Garage, in the last years also R'n'B and Soul - about 8 years ago and soon started dj-ing on private Parties at friends houses, later as guest DJ in different clubs in the northern Part of Germany where I used to live at that time.
I started a party series, GET UP! in Hannover with some friends, where we used to play a fine blend of Freakbeat, Psych, Garage, Hammond Jazz, Northern and Sixties Soul, Motown and R'n'B. I regularly dj-ed at Cologne's only Northern Soul Allnighter, at Tsunami Club in Cologne's Südstadt during 2006. At the moment, I don't run a regular club but dj every now and then at different parties all over Germany.
INTERESTS:
I love going to Mod Parties, visiting friends all over Europe, travelling. I spend ages in front of my PC and on Flea Markets on the hunt for those little black round pieces of plastic containing that incredible sound of a decade long ago.
During the rest of the week I work in a big psychiatric hospital, where things are sometimes really terrifying. But then again there are times when it's really a laugh! I never thought I would once hear myself say "I like working" ... and well, I still prefer my spare time. But considering the fact that it is work, I really like it.
MUSIC:
All that's Mod: Freakbeat, Garage, some Psych (no Hardrock!), Northern Soul, Motown, R'n'B.
On the left, I've listed some current and all time faves.
Of some of these records, I've got spare copies for sale. Those are marked with a "*".
If you are interested in original 45s in the same style, please feel free to contact me for a full sales list.
